There are many terms and acronyms used in Heroes and by the fan community. Reading about the series can be a daunting tast for the beginner who doesn't know all these terms. So here is a glossary.

- AWI — Agency Without Initials. A fan term for the agency Mr. Bennet works for.
B
- BH — Better Halves
- BWM — Boiling Water Man, sometimes used to refer to Ted Sprague.
E
- EDT — Electronic data transception. The name used to qualify Hana's power.
- EM — Exploding Man, a fan-name for the person who supposedly explodes on November 8th.
- Evolved Humans — A term to indicate all characters in Heroes who have a specific gene giving them supernatural powers.
F
- F_Hiro — A fan-created term for Hiro from the future.
- Future Hiro — Hiro as he appears from the future in the episode Hiros.
G
- GN — The graphic novels published by NBC with each episode.
H
- Horn Rimmed Glasses — The name used during production for Mr. Bennet.
- HRG — Horn Rimmed Glasses. Another name for Mr. Bennet.
I
- IDF — Israeli Defense Forces. Refers to the unit Hana wanted to join. But, an IDF enlisting officer tells her that she cannot join the front line forces in the fight against terrorists.
- Ikin — Niki backwards. Used by fans to refer to Nikis alter-ego Jessica before he name was known.

- MM — Mysterious Man. A term used by fans for The Haitian before he was properly introduced.

- NtH — Nothing to Hide

- OGL — One Giant Leap
- OWI — Organisation Without Initials. Another fan-created term for the AWI.
R
- RHA — Red Headed Agent, a name initially used by fans for Elisa Thayer before her name was known.
S
- SGS — Super-Genome Symbol, a fan-created name for the symbol that appears frequently within the show.
