Case Study
This wiki's two most notorious vandals, TheEvilNoob and Mdj, did most of their damage at approximately the same time. TheEvilNoob was a disgruntled user whose rage was wrought in October. of 2008, and the block log does show an account named Rs2play, an early Runescape spamming bot, being banned days after. However, it's highly unlikely that this was Mdj, whose first accounts were banned in 21 August of 2009. If that is the day of Mdj's nascence, then it just happened to coincide with many of TEN's prolonged attacks on the Wiki, which would happen months at a time apart.
Mdj
Mdj's last appearance was 27 May 2010. His vandalism, obviously, originally consisted of spamming Runescape advertisements. However, it soon became similar to TEN's: mostly directed at RyanGibsonStewart. Precisely why this turned out to be the case remains to be seen, but I theorize that he found TEN's vandalism humorous (again, his emergence coincided with a massive attack by TEN), and decided to follow suit.
His style preached high-visibility with no attempt to fly under the radar, exactly as TEN's did. Every username of his was a rehash of Mdj, often with Cyrillic and other foreign characters (http://heroeswiki.com/MediaWiki:Titleblacklist), running the gamut along the lines of his original username, [User:Mdjww].
His personal style of vandalism differed in that it consisted entirely of creating new files and pages, as the deletion log shows. These pages often referenced inane stories, Latvian pride (it is presumed he is from Latvia), a hatred of RGS, Runescape items, and a hilarious tendency for showboating. His file uploads consisted of attacks on RGS, of which http://oi60.tinypic.com/15hlunl.jpg is an epitome.
TheEvilNoob
TheEvilNoob's last appearance was 25 August 2011. Initially, TheEvilNoob was a simple but caustic heroes fan. After finding himself banned by RGS for getting in a flame war with him and other users, TEN took it upon himself to insult his wife on her blog.
The community's reaction to this seemed to motivate him greatly, for he took to launching a massive attack the following month consisting of countless vulgar usernames and edits through them. This rattled the wiki, which responded with a bluster of legal action (http://heroeswiki.com/User_talk:Ryangibsonstewart/Archive_22), seemingly throwing more fuel on the fire. In all of his attacks, he unabashedly embraced the negative attention his wildly offensive usernames and added content brought him.
TEN continued this trend of massive attacks after long periods of latency, and little changed until the August attack that coincided with the birth of Mdj. It didn't take long for him to notice his new friend, jocularly calling him a "ho" at first (http://heroeswiki.com/Special:Contributions/Mjdisaho) before declaring him a valuable friend days later (http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Admin&diff=prev&oldid=361534).
TEN and Mdj both grew bored of their attacks at the same time, but TEN seemingly returned a year later to deface hundreds of pages with code exploits, showing notable evolution as a troll. One of the accounts he registered was in tribute to his whilom friend (http://heroeswiki.com/Special:Contributions/Md%D1%86).
What was their relationship?
They no doubt knew of each other, as Mdj seemed to derive his motivation from TEN's first attacks, and quickly took after his hatred for RGS. TEN quickly took notice of his new ally, and even adopted some of his tricks, for his later defacement attacks included widespread image replacement.
They both targeted the inordinate amount of RGS-related content on the wiki; TEN loved changing RGS's userpage to a proud declaration of pedophilia, while Mdj loved replacing his images.
Both were considered friends by User:BoomerDay/Wiki_Friends. Both are fervently hated by Admin, RGS, and their followers as the faces of evil for HW.
Precisely how their relationship came to be is unknown. One can only imagine that they exchanged words outside the wiki to further and help their attacks.
