Question
I'd love to write a formal essay on the vandalism TheEvilNoob and Mdj brought to the wiki as a case study in trolling. Would anyone care to help by providing accounts? --Zelrio (talk) 03:51, 4 December 2015 (EST)
* No. They were just run of the mill trolls. We've had plenty over the years as does any site. There wasn't anything special about them. (Admin (talk) 04:31, 4 December 2015 (EST))
** Ha ha! Other than generally using me as a target (which I don't mind too much) and my family (which really pisses me off), they were easily dealt with and, frankly, low-level vandals. We are pretty lucky here at Heroes Wiki that we really haven't had any major issues -- usually just spammers, and a few rather minor vandals. :) -- 21:50, 4 December 2015 (EST)

Notes and help

See related discussion at MediaWiki talk:Usernameblacklist. Quick primer:

This extension works similarly to the Username Blacklist extension, except if a regular expression is not clarified as "newaccountonly", it will also block articles from being created with the specified expression.

Also of note is that exceptions to the blacklist can be added at MediaWiki:Titlewhitelist. The whitelist could be useful if you need to allow an article or user account to be created with a longer than name than the set maximum. Admin has initialized max username length at 25 characters; there is no set maximum for article names.

The blacklisting/whitelisting can also be applied to image/audio files, if need be, by assigning the 'reupload' attribute to the regular expression.

A list of the related warning messages to the Title Blacklist extension can be found here.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:54, 1 December 2008 (EST)
