Caitlin's power

• Just wanted to predict that Caitlin's power is lightning. Claude unintentionally taught Peter that he had to think of the person with the power to really use it. Peter was able to use the lightning power while thinking of Caitlin. Q.E.D. --AverageMan 08:50, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
  • I would tend to agree; there's also the parallel in the mermaid story story Caitlin tells Peter (the mermaid shares her power with the "big, dumb hero"). --Simply Agrestic 10:00, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
  • The problem with this theory, of course, being that Peter hadn't yet met Caitlin when he utilized lightning in Four Months Later. To me, it seems the emotions he feels for her drew up the ability, not simply him thinking of her. He's also exhibited abilities numerous times when it was unlikely that he was thinking of their user (going radioactive in How to Stop an Exploding Man, for instance, or using telekinesis while fighting Claude when he didn't even remember who gave him the power). His emotions control his abilities, not his memories of the abilities' owners. --Paronine 10:20, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

    • FC, you are most likely right. Unfortunately, one must 'read between the lines' to see the intended parallel between the mermaid giving her power to her hero, and Caitlin giving her power to Peter. When that type of vague and not direct parallel is given to us, it becomes speculation to say emphatically that Caitlin has electromagnetism....even though it would make the entire parallel of the story she told bogus in regards to the GN if that weren't the case. My bet is, you probably won't find the Admin guys allowing any firm tie-in of Caitlin to Electromagnetism solely based on this GN; and will have to wait for a future more explicit GN or Epi.       • Correct. When did Caitlin demonstrate it? She has yet to, and even if she said "Hey, I can do that", she can be lying. So yeah, there needs to be some evidence in canon source. That's what the theory pages are for :-) --Bob 14:44, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
  • A Behind the Eclipse interview has informed us that Peter got the electromagnetism from a woman during the four month period between seasons and that Peter's powers are "more about his heart than his memory." -- FissionChips 18:14, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
