  • This graphic novel is not numbered. Should we just include it between issues 55 and 56 in the portal, etc.?--Hardvice (talk) 06:21, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
    • Speaking specifically of the sequence, it came out chronologically after 54 and before 55, so we should keep any special editions like this within our numbering scheme to keep chronology consistent. I simply named it 54B and mentioned it in the note, and that way was able to update the EP template so that we can access it easily, based on when it came out. For example: ((epp|gn54)), ((epp|gn54b)), ((epp|gn55)) generates: (replacing parens with brackets) (Petrified Lightning), (The Rogue), (The Trial of the Black Bear) This should be the easiest to support and remember in the future, and allow for expansion of other special editions. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 10/17/2007 14:13 (EST)
      • The dates show it as coming after The Trial of the Black Bear, when did it come out? -Lөvөl 14:17, 17 October 2007 (EDT)
        • Well my guess is the dates entered are wrong. I know at one point (either late Monday) or early Tuesday morning that Rogue was out there available, and the Black Bear one hadn't been added to NBC's GN Library yet. There was at least several hours lag from when Rogue was available, and Black Bear was yet to be posted. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 10/17/2007 14:28 (EST)
          • I just went over to 9th wonders, and checked their time-stamps. People are always watching what is going on over there 24/7, and I figured they would give us a pretty close timeframe on when they were published. Rogue (54b) is first mentioned as being available Monday Oct 15, before 6:43 pms post. Bear(55) is first mentioned as being available Tuesday October 16, before 2:09 am. I'll go back and update the Rogue date from 16 back to 15. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 10/17/2007 15:02 (EST)
    • Maybe start a new section for the exclusive ones? --AvadaNella 10:44, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
  • Link to to the direct link for the pdf novel (no need to register) :
    • Thanks! (Admin 20:45, 16 October 2007 (EDT))
      • We probably shouldn't post a direct link. That's likely to cause trouble with NBC.--Hardvice (talk) 20:46, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
        • Hmm. Not too sure how I feel about that. At the very least I'm going to say that after at most 1-2 weeks we should add the link. Whether we should link to it now or not is tougher to say. Though if they had really wanted to encourage registration they should have setup time-limited links to discourage people from posting the direct link (which is what people are just going to do otherwise). (Admin 20:50, 16 October 2007 (EDT))
          • Yes, but does poor security really justify bad behaviour? It's like saying it was OK to steal Claire's car because she left the keys in it, to use the first example which springs to mind for some odd reason. The bottom line is that they want people to sign up to see the content. I wouldn't want us to be the reason people fail to do so, which is why I didn't post the direct link to begin with.--Hardvice (talk) 20:53, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
            • I wouldn't agree that it's bad behavior. Surely the more courteous approach would be to take people to the registration. Afterall, we do link directly to the different graphic novel formats while it would be more courteous to link directly to their graphic novel page and let their advertising be shown. We add the links for convenience and because it doesn't appear to be a serious issue. Now if they're purposely changing the link periodically in order to discourage such behavior then it's more clearly antagonistic to keep linking directly to the file. (Admin 20:56, 16 October 2007 (EDT))
            • Anyway, I don't mind too much either way at the moment so if you're more comfortable linking to the signup form, feel free to take it out of the main article and we can revisit it in a week or two (assuming I even remember). (Admin 20:59, 16 October 2007 (EDT))
              • But the rest of the graphic novels are free content. This one isn't. It's available on sign up, which isn't the same as "free". I don't see any difference between posting a direct link to this and posting a torrent link to an episode. And it's not a moral distinction, either, but purely a CYA distinction--I don't care what people do on their own, but I think it's a bad idea for us to risk pissing off the copyright holder of all of our content.--Hardvice (talk) 21:01, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
                • They're just trying something new. Seeing if they can make more money using the graphic novels, since so many people go to the website to read them, The guys at NBC and Nissan both obviously wanna know how many of us do read them. I'd think the real answer would be how many of us reading them actually wanna buy Nissans. Anyway, no one's going to think to look back in the history of this page to find out what the direct link is, so of course everyone's happy. (smirk) - ZachsMind 22:20, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

  • I'm not hip to contemporary baseball. Who the heck is Dres? I'm assuming he's "Andres" somebody, but unless they mean "Andres Galarraga", I'm stumped.--Hardvice (talk) 17:14, 18 October 2007 (EDT)

Part 2?

Wasn't there supposed to be a part 2 to The Rogue? I guess Nissan didn't get enough ad hits so they didn't release it?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:21, 28 October 2007 (EDT)

  • There was a part two to the scavenger hunt, but I didn't think that necessarily meant a part two to the GN. Maybe I just missed that.--Hardvice (talk) 00:22, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
    • You could be right. Maybe it's one of those open-ended things where if they got enough feedback, they might consider doing a part 2 or make it an on-going thing.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:27, 28 October 2007 (EDT)

chapter=54b in {{GN}} on this page seems to cause an error with an extra PDF link. —Frungi 23:35, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Never mind, I see that the problem’s in the template code. No idea how to fix it though… —Frungi 23:46, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
  • I got rid of the error by changing it to pages=0, which also got rid of the JPEG links, so I added them into the template manually. —Frungi 01:30, 9 November 2009 (EST)
