Is a crew member really a spoiler? Even a new crew member in a "big" position (like writer or director) really isn't a spoiler at all. Maybe the episode name that they've worked on is, but we don't have to list the episode names on their pages--we can comment out the writer/director from the episode page (even though the episode page is in a searchable namespace). Still, I don't see how a crew member is a spoiler. I know we've made some of them spoiler pages in the past, but I think we should really get out of that habit. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:24, 18 January 2009 (EST)

• The trouble is often we don't know if it's the right crew member (i.e. more than one person with the same name) or we don't know exactly what they worked on. I guess in those cases, we could just put the people in a userspace till we know something definitive, but I don't see why they couldn't just be in the spoiler namespace so everyone who wants to look at upcoming stuff can examine it. If it's wrong and it goes into the main namespace right away, I think there's more of a chance it will go uncaught for a while before someone notices something's wrong.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:04, 18 January 2009 (EST)
  • I don't really understand what you're proposing about the user namespace, people with the same name, and something going uncaught...I'm just thinking that an article about a crew member is not a spoiler. For instance, Mark Verheiden is a recent addition to the crew. He is a writer and a producer. He's been a consulting producer and writer on the show since at least August, yet the episode he wrote won't air until next month. I don't think his article should be considered a spoiler. Then there's Bryan Fuller, who was a crew member during season one, left during season two, and has come back for the latter half of season three. The episode he wrote won't air until March, but I don't consider his article a spoiler. I guess what I'm saying is that we should create spoiler articles for characters, episodes, and cast members...and that's about it.     • Ok, I'll try to explain. I agree the names and articles are not normally spoilers, but I think that's only when they are known definitively. However, that's often not the case. For an example, when I wrote the articles for the director and cinematographer for The Recruit, I was basing them on an abbreviated name (first initial and last name) on the clapboard shown in the preview for that webisode. I didn't know for sure the full name. I just found the most prominent director and cinematographer with that first initial and last name and decided to make a spoiler article based on that. Another (better?) example, say Kristin of E! Online dishes that she's heard Stephen King is planning to write the 2009 Halloween episode of Heroes. Wouldn't that be a spoiler if it is not confirmed by an official source? Would it be appropriate to add an article to the mainspace for Stephen King as a potential writer based on such a source?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:18, 18 January 2009 (EST)
