Site Statistics

Peak usages are Tuesdays after the new episodes air. There is still decent constant visitor growth (visitors in days 4-7 after the new episode) and peak growth is approx. 60% growth over last week (Averaging 170% growth from week 1 of operation).

Statistics Features

Is it possible to show number of registered users on the statistics page? As well, it'd be nice to the statistics that are listed in order of days, either descending or ascending. Right now it shows Nov 1 - Nov 30, and then flips to Oct. Is it possible to make it Oct 1 - Oct 31, and then Nov? Or can it show Nov 30 - Nov 1 then Oct 31 - Oct 1? (Was that a mouthful?) Ryangibsonstewart 13:52, 22 November 2006 (EST)

You can get total number of registered users here. As for the charts, I'm just cutting and pasting from a web stats tool I use, so while I suppose I could reverse the dates manually in the html, I dont think it's worth the effort especially because I update it frequently sometimes. I just put the current month at the top because that's the most relevant with previous months below it in case people care to check out the stats there, too. (Admin 16:50, 22 November 2006 (EST))
I agree with you about the chronology. It'd be nice to have it better ordered, but certainly not worth the effort ... Thanks for the info about the stats! Ryangibsonstewart 00:27, 23 November 2006 (EST)

Terrific Tuesdays

  • As you can see, Tuesdays are our busiest days (though things start getting busy shortly after Heroes finishes on Mondays). So far just looking at the Tuesday trends we've had continual (and impressive) growth every Tuesday since the inception of the wiki. Excellent job, everyone! We had over 5700 visits yesterday (any two hits from the same IP with less than an hour between them is considered 1 visit). Since we started we've had over 32,000 unique visitors (technically unique IPs) and that number's growing constantly, too. The site is growing very well and we should all be very pleased with the work we've done to help. (Admin 00:12, 29 November 2006 (EST))
  • We've continued our trend of weekly growth reaching 6985 visits yesterday alone! Very nice! Since Heroes will be rerunning for a while I suspect the Tuesday traffic will subside a little bit in the coming weeks, but we'll see. More and more people are visiting the wiki every day and we continue to be mentioned on more message boards, blogs, and fansites each day! (Admin 00:22, 6 December 2006 (EST))
    • I've noticed we're creeping our way up the page for Google searches, too. We're at least #3 for most Heroes-related inquiries.--Hardvice (talk) 00:25, 6 December 2006 (EST)
      • And people are clicking on them, too. We get a ton of hits from Google searches for all sorts of Heroes-related queries. (Admin 00:33, 6 December 2006 (EST))

Hiatus Stats

I'm impressed that we've kept pretty steady numbers throughout the mid-season break. Way to go! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:51, 10 January 2007 (EST)

There's a small increase when they put out a new graphic novel and a larger increase when they've been showing Heroes reruns. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens on January 22nd. :) (Admin 09:17, 10 January 2007 (EST))
The numbers are growing ... It's like Christmas Eve! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk)

Impressive Monday

  • This this was the most visits we've ever gotten on a Monday (and almost beat out our record Tuesday (which is typically the most active for us)). Extremely impressive. A lot of traffic was driven here by people searching for information on Primatech Paper Co. which they advertised during the episode. Fortunately for us we're among the top Google results for different variants of Primatech Paper Company searches. Can't wait to see what Tuesday has in store! (Admin 01:38, 23 January 2007 (EST))
  • Here's what our bandwidth has looked like for the past 24 hours. Times are in EST.

1/30/07

It's 11 pm EST, and I just checked the current site statistics. I noticed that as of now the numbers for today are low for any normal day and super low for a Tuesday after a new episode. I'm guessing that only a fraction of the statistics for today are logged thus far. Am I right? How does that work? And how is the site really doing?--E rowe 23:04, 30 January 2007 (EST)

The last time Admin updated the statistics was 10:36 am today (noted at the top of the page). But you're right, today's numbers are a bit lower than usual. I know I was busy at work today and have been playing with the kids more than usual today, so I personally had a lot less time online. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:16, 30 January 2007 (EST)
I was waiting for someone to notice the lower numbers. :) This is pretty much the first time we've run without any Google Adwords. I wanted to see how well we'd do without the ads and I'm decently pleased. Last Tuesday I believe I spent $400 in advertising which is a lot for a single day (Monday was probably a couple hundred dollars as well). We're reaching the point now where word of mouth plus decent Google search rankings are driving a good amount of traffic to the site so our dependence on advertising should diminish. This is more or less a necessity since the amount spent advertising is orders of magnitude higher than revenue generated from hosting ads. Not using Google Adwords is going to skew the statistics though and we'll have to start doing comparisons using this week as our baseline. A lot of sites have links to our articles now so we're getting more visits by people actually interested in the information. So while number of visits will be less than before we should still see similar growth and activity. (Admin 00:01, 31 January 2007 (EST))

Great growth

Wow, remember the not-so-far-away days when 5,000 to 6,000 page visits a day was record-breaking? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:22, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Stat updates

  • Statistics might not be updated for a little while now that I have Squid processing requests on the front end. I may have to aggregate the statistics across the caches and probably break it up to display cached results in addition to results that hit Apache. A small price to pay if it improves performance during our peak times. (Admin 01:34, 7 May 2007 (EDT))
