Body insertion is actually a more controlled application of phasing.	D.L. once claimed he could have left Jessica in the wall, so perhaps one can insert people into other people as an application of this ability.	+ Future Peter appeared to physically push Peter out of Jesse's body, similar to phasing. - Sticking Peter inside Jesse would most likely make Jesse explode or something, or at least crush his internal organs, skeleton, etc. - D.L's threat implied that Niki's body would be phased into the middle of the wall and left there, most likely dying from suffocation. Or that the effects would be more like the wall was phased into her, successfully killing her. It did not imply that Niki's body would actually become part of the wall and that she would consciously live inside of it. + It's plausible that with more control that it could be possible. - Fusing two people together is much more complicated. Besides having two conscious minds, it would also be extremely complicated to fuse all the flesh and organs together in such a way that wouldn't result in aforementioned explosion or death. + It's not "fusing", it's leaving the second person phased out inside the first, i.e. his/her body would be totally immaterial. D.L.'s threat implied phasing out Jessica's body inside the wall and then phasing it in while still inside that, resulting in death. Phasing out a body inside a wall (or person), and never phasing it in, will result in that same body trapped inside whatever is placed into, in immaterial form. That will also require some type of control over the phased body movement in order to confine it (as opposed to have it floating freely away like a ghost), and, as in Peter's case, the ability to put the phased person's mind in control of the possessed body (which can also be a natural and undesired side effect of the whole "possession" effect - probably Future Peter would have rather choose to have Jesse still in control of his body and Past Peter merely trapped inside). - Adding a person who can "insert" themselves/others would give another possibility for someone with multiple abilities. • Peter was only able to use Jesse's power while in his body. Therefore, in order for someone with body insertion to use multiple abilities, they would have to constantly jump from person to person, which is an unrealistic possibility. - Present day Peter also possessed phasing, and therefore should have been able to phase out of Jesse if he choose to. - D.L. had only recently developed his power. It's likely that he didn't know exactly what would happen if he let go of Niki/Jessica while they were walking through a solid surface.
