Thanks to Matt Parkman's telepathic abilities, Karen, although comatose, is able to enjoy one last moment together with her husband just before she dies.

Ted and Karen get married, and the newlyweds seem content in their happy lives. Some time later, Ted's powers cause Karen to develop cancer. She dies, leaving Ted angry, depressed, and confused.
