"Nosferatu" on Wikipedia

Nosferatu is a vampire in the 1922 silent horror film Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens ("Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror" in German), portrayed by Max Schreck.

About

In His Own Image

In the first draft of the pilot, Sylar was supposed to appear in an Italian prison. According to Greg Beeman's blog, this version of Sylar was supposed to have long claw-like nails and sharp teeth. He was also supposed to be "way weirder and more monstrous, — like Nosferatu.".

Hiros

Peter paints a picture of Claire running up the stairs, from a shadowy Sylar, and a similar shadowy picture of Nosferatu.

.07%

A picture of Nosferatu, a painting of Sylar, and a B&W screen clip of Sylar all wearing the similar long coat, with felt-trimmed sleeves.

Sylar using his newly acquired power of Precognition creates a painting of a long-clawed Presidential-looking Nosferatu.

Notes

  • Nosferatu is famous for his long-clawed hands. Sylar is sometimes rendered in this fashion.
  • Nosferatu wore a black long coat with felt-trimmed sleeves. Sylar wears a similar felt-trimmed long coat when going to kill Isaac.
  • Nosferatu is often shown as a looming shadow over his victims. Sylar is portrayed in one painting as a shadowy figure looming over Claire.
