Lydia tells Edgar that she left her daughter to be raised by her sister.

On the phone, Lydia explains to Amanda that Carol practically raised Lydia, and she couldn't think of a better person with whom to leave Amanda. Amanda says that Carol thinks she's a freak, that when she burns things, that she does it on purpose. Carol has sent Amanda to therapy for this. Suddenly, Carol knocks on the door, and Amanda hangs up the phone.

One year ago, Carol speaks with Meredith and Noah about an incident caused by Amanda. Carol shows them the remains of Twinkles and then the burnt tree, stating that both were the doing of Amanda. Carol also comments that Lydia got pregnant young and was also different, like Amanda.

After Amanda burns down the house, Carol is taken to hospital for minor burns. Amanda fears that she may hurt Carol again and so she runs away.
