Superman, also known by his Earth name as Clark Kent or his birth name as Kal-El, is the adopted son of Johnathan and Martha Kent. He was sent to Earth just prior to the destruction of his home planet Krypton. Krypton orbited a Red Giant Sun that emitted much less radiation than Earth's Yellow Sun. Because of this difference in Superman's Kryptonain biological existence, exposure to the radiation from Earth's Yellow Sun gave him extraordinary abilities. With his gifts, he fights for truth, justice, and the good of mankind.
