Also, the namespace ultimately doesn't matter much because every single link to the episodes strips it out, either by piping or linking to the redirect. Hello, Red

Welcome to Heroes Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing Wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style.
  • If you're ready to get started, Template:Todo lists some ways you can help out.
  • Of course, if you have your own idea for a new article, that's great, too.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for an administrator.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.

Once again, welcome to Heroes Wiki!

Greetings!

  • Hey, Red. Welcome! I had to revert a bunch of your edits because they didn't follow the formatting guidelines. I'd definitely recommend checking out those Help links at the top of your talk page here, they'll help you get a feel for how things need to be formatted here. Oh, and by the way... it's "vs." not "v.s." ;) "vs." is short for "versus" so there's just one period.  :) (Admin 18:05, 4 January 2007 (EST))

Dialect

The dialect on memorable quotes is non-standard compared to every other page. It's also wholly unnecessary.--Hardvice (talk) 16:40, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Signature

Hey Red!

I noticed you've been having to go back and edit your sig every time. Here's a way you can use the signature button, or ~~~~, and have it do what you want:

  1. Go to Special:Preferences
  2. In "Nickname", type "~ Red = "
  3. Tick "Raw signatures" and click "Save"

After that, if you type four tildes, it should enter your signature formatted the way you like it, with the timestamp. --Hardvice (talk) 21:48, 3 January 2007 (EST)

  • I wonder IF this work It's my 1st time Sending a Message I'm wondering IF this is the correct way.
  • Just want to say Thanks for The advise and Help on this N00b. How do I align my Sig to the Right?
~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 17:51, 4 January 2007 (EST)
  • If you want to have it automatically align it, just add the colons to the text you typed in Special:Preferences. But it would be better to put a <br> before them and put the tildes immediately after your comment, and not on the next line ... that way, you still get a line break but it doesn't break the formatting for other people's comments.

In other words, to get the signature you're using now, change the nickname field to "<br>:::: ~ ~ ~ ~ [[User:Red|Red]] = ". Then, instead of putting it on a new line, put it right after your comment, like this: "comment~~~~" It will auto-insert the line break
  • The <br> Didn't work when I added it to my Nickname:

It only showed

Invalid raw signature; check HTML tags.

<br>~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 01:36, 5 January 2007 (EST)

    • Okay, it doesn't allow breaks in the nickname field. I made a sig page for you. Put this in nickname and it should work: "{{subst:User:Red/sig}}"--Hardvice (talk) 01:53, 5 January 2007 (EST)

History Tab

  • Help:Sources Doesn't Tell me How to use History tab only Talks about type of Sources.
    ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 23:09, 4 January 2007 (EST)
    • I was linking to Help:Sources to explain why some things like Niki's power, etc., don't get added to articles. As for the Diff/Hist rollback, it's an admin-only feature. You're better off just recreating the edit. You can click a version in History, click edit, and click save, but it will undo all subsequent changes. Again, it's better just to redo the edit manually.--Hardvice (talk) 23:48, 4 January 2007 (EST)

Standardization

Hi Red. I noticed you've wanted to call the episodes "chapters". Unfortunately, if we changed every reference to every episode, there would be hundreds and hundreds of changes to make. For instance, the word "Genesis" is found on at least 71 pages alone. I agree with you that it'd be cool to call the episodes "chapters", but it might not be worth the trouble. (See here for further discussion.) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:03, 5 January 2007 (EST)

  • Couldn't there be a Global Search and Replace for the Text Episode: to Chapter: Sysop?
    ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 01:12, 5 January 2007 (EST)
    • Unfortunately, that would require a bot. Currently, all changes must be done manually. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:15, 5 January 2007 (EST)
      • Is there a way to add the word Chapters: to the Episode article then?
        ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 01:24, 5 January 2007 (EST)
      • I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean to the article title? That would require a move, and that would require adjusting all the links and redirects.--Hardvice (talk) 01:29, 5 January 2007 (EST)
        • The chapter titles are on the pictures of each episode title (see this picture, for example), which are on every episode page (see Fallout, for example]]. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:36, 5 January 2007 (EST)
          • That would work then? and would automatically change the Episode to Chapters then. <br>~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 01:39, 5 January 2007 (EST)
            • No. Nothing is going to change all of the "episodes" to "chapters" except manually changing all nine billion links. Also, the namespace ultimately doesn't matter much because every single link to the episodes strips it out, either by piping or linking to the redirect. In the end, it doesn't make much difference whether we call it Episode:Genesis or Chapter:Genesis because all the links display as Genesis anyway.--Hardvice (talk) 01:41, 5 January 2007 (EST)
            • what about having Redirects on the Chapter when I search for chapters; I get only 2 results.
              ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 23:31, 6 January 2007 (EST)
              • If you want to add redirects, go ahead. But again, all of the links refer to them just by title, so it'll only make a difference for searches.--Hardvice (talk) 23:39, 6 January 2007 (EST)

Citations on addresses

  • There's no need to cite an external source for information that appears in the episodes. The canon source is the episode, not the forum post which pointed out the information. They didn't make the apartment numbers. Anyone who watches the episode can discover that info for themself.--Hardvice (talk) 02:02, 5 January 2007 (EST)
    • Just to prove or Backup my claims that I'm NOT pulling numbers out of my head. And for People to know where to look to Check/See for themselves.
~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 02:21, 5 January 2007 (EST) Testing the NEW sig Thanks for Everything ^_^ No way to Align it to the Right field?
You can adjust it however you like. It's at this page, and you can edit it just like an article. As for the forum references, if you feel the need to add them, then they belong on the talk page, not the article. The article should cite canon sources whenever possible, and the canon source for the apartment numbers is the episode in which they appear.--Hardvice (talk) 02:27, 5 January 2007 (EST)
