* Hey, Heroes360. Great stuff, as always! A few responses... I'm hesitant to call this a "comic" as opposed to a "graphic novel". Would it be to distinguish it from the previous graphic novels, or because you think they should all be called comics?
We have a problem at the wiki when we name things with pound signs in the title. I think for our naming purposes, it'll be fine to say "Part 1". Plus, it follows the same format as most of the previous issues ''Heroes'' has put out. But thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation of the covers. I was getting all the covers from different spots, so it was hard to tell what came from where, or which ones were even created by different artists. This is very helpful. After I fix it up, let me know if there's something that needs to be fixed. Or feel free to make the change yourself if you want. :)
I also ignored the blank white cover. I really thought that was an "in the process of" cover, not an actual cover. Good to know! (Reminds me of The White Album from The Beatles.) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 15:43, 13 October 2015 (EDT)

** Thanks! The reason that I would call these "comics" as opposed to "graphic novels" is because they are different from the graphic novels posted on nbc.com during the original series run. The ''Vengeance'' comics are actual 32-page full comic book issues that you can purchase at the comic book store as opposed to shorter ~6-11-page comics only available individually online, and the ''Vengeance'' comics are published by [http://titan-comics.com/c/356-heroes/ Titan Comics] (who call them "comics" on their site). I have not seen any place call these particular comic books "graphic novels" the way that NBC called their comics "graphic novels".
I was thinking that it may make sense to put all five ''Vengeance'' comics on the same page as well, but in my opinion the title box should not say "Issue #: 174" nor should it say "Previous: From the Files of Primatech, Part 8". These ''Vengeance'' comics are different from the 173+ chapters of graphic novels from the original run. If the # gives too much trouble, perhaps where it says "Issue" in the box on the right, it should say "Issue: 01", as that is what the issue is titled on the front cover (#01). Using the word "Part" like "''Vengeance'', Part 1" is (again, my opinion) forcing the word "part" in the title when nowhere on or in the comic, nor anywhere else online does the comic say "Part X". It made sense for the NBC graphic novels, since (I think) all of them said "Part 1, 2, 3..." on one of the pages of the actual graphic novel.
Also, I may have not properly worded it before, but the [http://heroeswiki.com/images/1/17/Vengeance.jpg red and white cover by Paul Pope] is actually the cover for the [http://www.amazon.com/SDCC-2015-Exclusive-NBC-Heroes/dp/B0120XF8LA ashcan] comic given out at San Diego Comic Con 2015. I had to look up the word [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashcan_copy "ashcan" on Wikipedia: In modern comics, ashcan editions may refer to promotional comics in the independent/self-publishing market. The term is sometimes synonymous with minicomics or special variants.] This ''Vengeance'' ashcan comic includes six pages from ''Vengeance'' #01, in black and white (like the three images in the "Previews" section), as well as the "A Brave New World" article from the first issue of ''Heroes Reborn: Event Series — The Official Magazine''. If this idea of having all of the ''Vengeance'' comics on one page (as opposed to five separate pages) caught on, then I think that a special section toward the bottom of the article should be titled "Ashcan" with the current red and white cover image and a brief summary of when/where it was released and what it contains. If the "all ''Vengeance'' comics on the same ''Vengeance'' page" idea does not become a reality, then perhaps the same kind of "Ashcan" section should go on the bottom of the page for Issue #01. (Being unfamiliar with the term, I wondered if "ashcan" could be used as a standalone word; [http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/paul-pope-covers-titan-comics-sdcc-exclusive-heroes-ashcan apparently it can]).
Also, I mentioned on the [[Talk:EBook|eBook Talk page]] that I was disappointed about the delay of the second eBook, ''A Matter of Trust'', but I forgot to mention that three of the pages in Issue #01 of ''Vengeance'' give an "EBOOK EXCERPT" from ''A Matter of Trust''. The inside cover of the comic teases about the excerpt: "Plus: Exclusive Father Mauricio short story!" When I read that before flipping to the back, I had no idea what to expect.

Number

I'm not sure this is considered Issue #174. I haven't bought it yet, but I think they're starting the numbers over again. Not sure how to handle that here... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:05, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

Where is it Available?

It should say in the article where it is available. Is it online? in stores? only at conventions? I will try to find info later if no one else puts it in. -Lөvөl 13:04, 8 October 2015 (EDT)

  • It's not online. I think you can get it in stores like Books-A-Million, and I imagine at other stores too ... but I haven't checked and I'm not sure. I've seen a few reviews for it already, and every article mentions that it was released yesterday (except for BAM, which will ship it later, I guess)... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:56, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
    • You can get an online version on Comixology. I have found several stores that carry it and put the links in the article. -Lөvөl 17:14, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
      • Thanks for posting this link! I'm surprised that, as a UK resident, I was able to buy and open it from there. Now, if only there was some way for me to access the BNW eBook... -Kon (talk) 17:42, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
      • Thanks for the link. They really don't make it easy to find, do they? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:25, 8 October 2015 (EDT)

Title

In most of the stores it is titled as Heroes: Vengeance #1, do we want to go with Heroes: Vengeance, Part 1, or just Vengeance, Part 1, or something else? -Lөvөl 17:32, 8 October 2015 (EDT)

I vote we go with "Vengeance, Part 1", and then make a disambig article for the Vengeance issues like From the Files of Primatech. -Kon (talk) 17:42, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
Yep, totally agree. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:24, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
I think it might be a good idea to not put this under the Graphic Novels section, but to create a Comics section. I always thought NBC misused the term "graphic novel" when referring to their weekly comics, but I haven't seen anyone anywhere call these Vengeance comics "graphic novels".
I also think that a better title for this comic would be Heroes Vengeance #01, as that is what the comic is labeled on the front cover.
As for the covers, the red and white one (currently second in the HeroesWiki article, created by Paul Pope) was only used for an ashcan comic from San Diego Comic Con 2015 (not for Issue #01). The ashcan comic includes six pages from Vengeance #01 in black and white (like the three in the "Previews" section), as well as the "A Brave New World" article from the first issue of Heroes Reborn: Event Series — The Official Magazine. About the magazine, the ashcan also reveals that "Issue One hits stores on September 29, and Issue Two on December 1."
Side story: I went to my local bookstore on September 29th (as both the ashcan and the official Titan Magazine website say that the magazine would be released that day) and searched for the magazine. It was not on the shelves, and three store employees told me that they did not have it. The next day, I read on comicbook.com that the magazine would be released on October 6th. I went back to the book store on October 6th and found the magazine. I asked the guy currently stocking the magazines if he had just stocked that particular magazine. He did not seem to think so, so he scanned the bar code. The date came up as September 27 (not the 29th). I was a bit confused that the scanner said that the store had the magazine when I was in there the week before, but I was so happy that they had the magazine that I walked away. Then I thought to myself, "If they had the magazine on the 27th instead of the 29th, maybe they will have the comic early as well (as the comic was due out October 7th.)." I went back to the rack, and sure enough, the comic was there! I asked the man if he had just put that comic out, to which he said he did, but still scanned the comic, which said October 6th (again, not 7th despite every single source I have seen saying October 7th). I still think October 7th is the correct date to put on the article for Issue #01. I'm guessing my store just put it out a day early.
Here are some links to ebay images (and wherever else I could find them) showing the bar codes and extra info not on the art covers. There are three main covers. The first cover by Paul Pope is Cover 1 of 3. The cover by Rubine is Cover 2 of 3. The blank cover from the Comic Book Resources article (not currently on the HeroesWiki article page) is Cover 3 of 3.
The other seven covers are all exclusive to the particular retailers and do not have "Cover X of X" on the front. Here are some other links of possible interest. Larry's Comics page for the color cover and for the black and white cover (black and white limited to 500). The Books-A-Millions cover. The Forbidden Planet cover. A post on October 7, 2015 on the Gifts for the Geek Facebook page says that their exclusive cover is limited to 1000. --Heroes360 (talk) 22:06, 12 October 2015 (EDT)

    • Thanks! The reason that I would call these "comics" as opposed to "graphic novels" is because they are different from the graphic novels posted on nbc.com during the original series run. The Vengeance comics are actual 32-page full comic book issues that you can purchase at the comic book store as opposed to shorter ~6-11-page comics only available individually online, and the Vengeance comics are published by Titan Comics (who call them "comics" on their site). It made sense for the NBC graphic novels, since (I think) all of them said "Part 1, 2, 3..." on one of the pages of the actual graphic novel.

Also, I may have not properly worded it before, but the red and white cover by Paul Pope is actually the cover for the ashcan comic given out at San Diego Comic Con 2015. I had to look up the word "ashcan" on Wikipedia: In modern comics, ashcan editions may refer to promotional comics in the independent/self-publishing market. The term is sometimes synonymous with minicomics or special variants. (Being unfamiliar with the term, I wondered if "ashcan" could be used as a standalone word; apparently it can).

Also, I mentioned on the eBook Talk page that I was disappointed about the delay of the second eBook, A Matter of Trust, but I forgot to mention that three of the pages in Issue #01 of Vengeance give an "EBOOK EXCERPT" from A Matter of Trust. The inside cover of the comic teases about the excerpt: "Plus: Exclusive Father Mauricio short story!" When I read that before flipping to the back, I had no idea what to expect.

Spoilers?

The release date for Vengeance is listed as November 1st in some places, but I was able to buy it online and there are a few reports of it arriving at stores in the US. So, would it be okay for me to add info from this comic to the wiki, or should I wait until the release is more... widespread? -Kon (talk) 17:42, 8 October 2015 (EDT)

  • We normally add things at their first release date, so go ahead. I am also working on adding things. -Lөvөl 19:06, 8 October 2015 (EDT)
