Annie seems like she's the type of person who hides her true emotions [example: suicidal thoughts]. + Annie's character may be stupid. She's a human being like the rest. She has a mind of her own to choose to commit suicide, to see if she has a power or whatever her motives are. - If she was stupid, she wouldn't have gotten to college, and wouldn't "look down" to Claire for getting in only with a G.E.D.

So she wouldn't care about unwanted attention. Especially when Gretchen has a reason for her motives.
