She may have done so by converting the sound (which she perceives as light) into kinetic force. • The appearance of the damage Emma did to the wall seems similar to the damage Sylar inflicted on a wall while trying to scalp Hiro in Once Upon a Time in Texas. - Emma only started perceiving sound as color when her ability manifested. - Sound is a mechanical wave, it can carry a concussive force, it doesn't need to be converted into another form of energy. The damage Emma did to her wall could simply be because the sound was focused and directed at that portion of the wall. + Damage caused by sound manipulation has a very 'blunt' look. What Emma did to her wall seems decidedly different: the wall looked like somebody attacked it with a chainsaw, rather than blasted apart or bludgeoned. - Pressure depends on the force applied and the area on which it is applied. If the area decreases, the pressure increases, explaining the cleaner "cut". + The gash in the wall appeared to be straight as a laser. If she were warping the 'lights', which are normally twisted and coiled, it seems likely that the cut on the wall would be more curved/distorted. - It can be rather focused. + That focused ray formed an instant before Emma accidentally hacked up her wall. Telekinesis can put a strain on the user, as shown when Peter opened the Company's vault, he got a nosebleed. Maybe that force stems from actual biochemical energy, such as ATP. • Sylar has been shown creating massive amounts of kinetic and electric energy, as well as regenerating from massive wounds instantaneously, in the space of a few hours. The amount of overall energy for this would be immense, and given that Sylar does not seem to eat or sleep more then the average human, it is unlikely he would have enough biochemical energy to supply his abilities with. + All abilities affect their users' bodies when over-used. - And this could be how telekinesis does that. • All abilities seem to have a single symptom of overuse: nosebleeds (or, in extremely bad instances, brain hemorrhages). Overuse telepathy? Nosebleed. Overuse space-time manipulation? Nosebleed. Overuse mental manipulation? Nosebleed.
Emma's ability is similar to sound manipulation, except that she can manipulate all sound, not just her voice.	None.	+ She was shown making a crack in a wall with her ability. This may be because she magnified the sound she created to the point where it could cause physical damage, similar to the way Echo and Jesse could magnify their voices to throw objects backward. • Emma has yet to use her ability using her voice. • Emma had no idea she could do that. If she was blindly warping sound, it's more likely that the entire building would have exploded or something. • That is unlikely. It would be plausible had she been in a murderous rage of some sort, but she was merely frustrated. Her ability caused destruction but on a scale relative to the intensity of her emotions. • Stephen Canfield killed his next-door neighbor during an argument. He may have been frustrated, but he almost certainly wasn't in a murderous rage. • Stephen's ability was much more dangerous than Emma's. • Even if the outburst didn't destroy the building, it would not have made a single, laser-straight line. If she was unconsciously using her power, it's more likely that she would have released a 'blast' of energy (similar to how Echo DeMille accidentally destroyed his house). • Echo destroyed his house, but it was never said that it was an accident. • It was. In Going Postal he mentions how he almost died (and accidentally killed two Company agents) when his scream destroyed the load-bearing members of his house, bringing it crashing down on his head. • See below, Emma may not be as powerful as Echo. • Given that we know so little about the ability, it is somewhat erroneous to be jumping to such conclusions. • The light waves that Emma sees are somewhat thin and wave-like, not spherical. She may not have shaped it at all. • Emma may not be able to magnify sound to the degree where it can destroy a building.
