The United Kingdom is a country in the northwest of Europe. Their capital city is London.
History: 2006-2021
In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, the UK provided massive amounts of assistance, both financial and personal, to the United States. The UK equivalent of the Linderman Act, the Powered Persons Control Act, was enacted in late 2007. It is said that Queen Elizabeth II had severe misgivings over the act.
In the aftermath of the explosion, a new right-wing party, the Nationalist Party, formed, led by Clive McFadden. In the Parliamentary elections of 2010, the Nationalists obtained a majority of Parliament and McFadden became the new Prime Minister. As Prime Minister, McFadden strictly enforced the Control Act, and considered the construction of new prisons an economy-boosting measure.
Queen Elizabeth II died on August 10, 2015. Her successor, Charles III, strongly opposed the Control Act and favored the evolved human registration system pioneered by India. Charles III vetoed Parliamentary bills, the first monarch to do so in centuries. Charles III reigned only 100 days. On November 18, 2015, he was killed in a car bomb. Despite being a massive security breach, the person who planted the bomb was never caught and Parliament impeded investigations of the incident. Many Britons blamed McFadden, but protest was muted.
William V proved to be as uncompromising towards Parliament as his father. He forced the adoption of an American-style reservation system, repealing the Control Act by decree. He was assassinated by a gunman on February 28, 2018. Terrified, his wife, Queen Kate, and infant daughter Diana fled the country, aided by an SG with the ability of permanent appearance alteration; their current whereabouts are unknown.
William V was succeeded by his brother, who reigned as Henry IX. His reign was uneventful until its end. Surrounded by thousands of heavily armed guards and soldiers, Henry IX adopted an Indian-style SG management system, ordering the camps liberated. What followed was a month-long civil war, which ended with Henry’s death on March 13, 2020.
Henry IX was succeeded by his cousin, who reigns as Elizabeth III. She is accompanied at all times by an MI5 agent, with orders to kill her if she “steps out of line.”
Current Situation
The United Kingdom is a totalitarian state ruled by its Prime Minister, Clive McFadden. In terms of evolved human affairs, it is one of the world’s most oppressive. All evolved humans are confined to the Freedom City reservation in the Scottish Highlands. Use of powers is strictly monitored and prohibited.
The Yamagato Fellowship has an illegal presence in the country, having been banned after its support of King Henry IX in the civil war of 2020.
