Talk:Patient Zero
Subsequent Episodes
Because this article is about the term "Patient Zero", subsequent episodes which do not mention the term are irrelevant. More specifically, the Felipe Acerra bit is pure speculation and belongs in Theories (we don't know the list is in any particular order). The Six Months Ago information is also speculative ... we have no idea why Chandra told Mohinder he was close to finding Patient Zero when he'd already met Sylar. I have moved it to Notes where it belongs.--Hardvice (talk) 01:40, 8 January 2007 (EST)
- OK, I reworded OGL and SMA to make the Patient Zero connection clearer.--Hardvice (talk) 02:04, 8 January 2007 (EST)
- And I moved Homecoming to Theories.--Hardvice (talk) 02:07, 8 January 2007 (EST)
- I think you really cleared it up. Thank you. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:25, 8 January 2007 (EST)
Two Days Prior..
Two days prior to Chandra's death ("Genesis"), he told Mohinder that he was close to finding Patient Zero. Yet "Six Months Ago" tells us he already met Sylar prior to making that phone call. Conclusion: Chandra was not talking about Sylar. Sylar may have been the first one Chandra contacted in the states, but Sylar was not the origination of the phenomenon. If Chandra thought that, he must have corrected his thinking just before he died. Perhaps that's really why he became more valuable dead. -- ZachsMind 16:29, 11 February 2007 (EST)
- Alternately, Chandra was intentionally being vague and misleading. He'd already shown he didn't want Mohinder involved in his research, and as Mohinder later realizes, he was doing so to protect Mohinder. He may not have actually changed his mind -- he could have just been blowing smoke. For some reason, Mohinder believes, based on the unheard tape, that Chandra considered Sylar his patient zero, but since we don't know when the tape was made, it's impossible to say one way or the other that Chandra continued to consider him patient zero after the tape was recorded.--Hardvice (talk) 16:41, 11 February 2007 (EST)
- In Genesis, he never mentions that Sylar is his Patient Zero. The conversation with Nirand took place 3 days prior, and his death was 2 days before that. In Don't Look Back, Mohinder mentions to Eden that he had a tape Chandra had with Sylar, whom he believed to be Patient Zero. So, the tape Mohinder refers to could have been a tape from 6 months ago, while he was still trying to find a Patient Zero who was not Sylar.
On a side note, some of the other "notable" residents of Queens (which Chandra could have been searching for Patient Zero) are Claude and Charles Deveaux. I know this probably belongs in the theory page, but it pertains to Patient Zero (which would technically be the origin, not the first encounter). Mr. Bennet knew the Deveaux building by name, Isaac said it was special in some way, and Peter mentions the coincidence of Claude living on the building that Peter worked. Something about that place may have something to do with the origin. But I digress...--Baldbobbo 18:30, 25 February 2007 (EST)
Sylar is Patient Zero...but how?
Chandra went to New York after he created the list of names using the DNA samples he obtained through the Genome Project to locate and contact many of them (I'm assuming there were more in NYC than in any other location). If the algorithm is based on Sylar's DNA (Parasite), then does that mean the list was created without the use of the algorithm, or that he visited Gabriel Gray first since his DNA was the basis of Chandra's algorith? If the former is true, then he knew which genes to look for, so the algorithm must only scan through any DNA sample looking for those genes. However, if the latter is true, then Sylar is "a creature of evolution" after all. Makes you wonder...--Bob 19:23, 21 March 2007 (EDT)
