Telepathy
I can't believe so many people are missing this. Arthur DOES have telepathy. If anyone paid attention to the scene right before he took Adam's power, you could hear the sound effects characteristic of telepathy while the camera focuses on Arthur's face. It also goes out of focus, a camera trick that is also used with telepathy. Also, right after this, Adam is visibly frightened and starts protesting. So leave telepathy in there...
