Theory Citations Notes
Samson Gray killed Barbie Travis. None. + In Saving Charlie, Barbie Travis is the first person to be killed at the Burnt Toast Diner. Assuming Samson Gray was responsible for killing her, it would add to the reasons why Hiro traveled back in time to meet her and attend her funeral.
- There is no connection between Hiro and Samson Gray so the above makes no sense.
Samson Gray has an ability to control animals. None + Samson Gray's home was full of taxidermied animals, suggesting he has a close connection with them.

+ Sylar has an ability, therefore there is a high chance Samson might have one too.

Considering Samson is really Sylar's biological father.

- In "Exposed", Samson Gray is shown using telekinesis to kill Sylar's mother.

+ It's not confirmed that it was telekinesis.
+ Samson could also have a power-absorbing ability like his son, which would allow him to acquire multiple abilities.
Samson Gray is not Sylar's biological father. None. + Samson Gray would be more likely to give up his son for money if he knew that he was not his real son.
- Not necessarily. A father giving up his son is a good plot twist.
For money?
This reason is dull; it might not be true.

+ Finding Sylar's parents is beginning to feel like a wild goose chase, and Samson Gray may just be the next link in the mystery.

- If Samson isn't Sylar's real father, how will he help?
+ By telling Sylar where he got him from?
- Sylar already met a man who adopted him and sent him to another man. If Samson is an adoptive father too, it would be frustrating for Sylar and for the viewers.

+ Angela knew who Sylar's real parents are. Thus either she knew them, or she dreamt of them. Either way, his parents are tied to something noteworthy to Angela, but Samson Gray seems to be an unlikely candidate for this.

- Angela could have dreamt of Sylar - thus she could receive a vision of his parents.
+ True, she could, but she would be far more likely to know if Sylar's parents were founders... or something.
- Not necessarily. For example, Kaito's wife had powers, but wasn't a founder.

- The writers state that Samson Gray is Sylar's biological father.

Samson Gray has the power of animal mimicry. None. + When Luke asks the question about animals, the black bird looks at them from outside the car.
- It could have reacted to the noise.

+ The taxidermied animals in his house could have been a weird irony thing.

+ It could also be an easy way to "acquire" animals to mimic, Animorphs-style.
Samson Gray's power is intuitive aptitude. None. + Powers are sometimes directly inherited.
+ Look at Matt and Maury Parkman and Peter and Arthur (to some degree).
+ Arthur Petrelli knew Sylar can mimic the abilities of other evolved humans without observing their brain but by empathizing with them. This could be because Arthur had met Samson Gray and recognized Sylar's ability.

- He might just have telekinesis.

Maybe he hasn't had the opportunity to steal anyone else's abilities, or is using it to "see how animals tick", like Sylar use's it to see "how powers tick".

- He has met Luke and not taken his ability.

+ Maybe he doesn't know he can do that... yet.
- He has telekinesis.
- As mentioned above, he might just have telekinesis.
+ Or maybe Samson simply didn't know that Luke was special too.
+ Or he can control "the hunger". Samson slashed his wife's forehead, but he didn't lop her skull and take her brain.
Because she didn't have powers?
+ Why didn't Samson slit her throat instead, like Sylar did to Ando and Noah?
Samson can copy powers like Peter, Sylar or Arthur. None. + Sylar's father having nothing but telekinesis raises a disturbing question about the source of this ability, from which Sylar took it.
- Sylar was shown to have acquired telekinesis from Brian Davis.
Perhaps this is another way the writers are going to say how Sylar was able to empathise with, and be so strong with his telekinesis. By seeing 'Daddy' with it.
