Help talk:Spoilers

I know we've talked about this before, but I'm not sure what value there is in archiving a spoiler once it has aired. We used to do the same with theories that were disproven or theories that were proven correct, and we quickly disbanded the practice. If the issue is preserving history, I'd much rather make the spoiler page into a redirect. I don't mind keeping episode spoiler pages around so much, though I wouldn't be sad to see them go, too. I'm mostly talking about pages like Spoiler:Zach and Spoiler:Mr. Linderman. There's just not much use for them. They're not getting any hits, and they really serve no purpose. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:39, 5 December 2007 (EST)

Just double checking the official stance, Official NBC previews, such as those released online, in the next time on Heroes bit at the end of each EP, and TV ads, like those that may/have aired on TV this summer are considered spoilers, right? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 20:11, 17 July 2008 (EDT)

  • Yeah, they're considered spoilers. The names of the new characters are not, though. There are things you can do to hide most info. from recentchanges:
  1. Making the character pages initially in the spoiler namespace and just use "spoiler article" as the initial summary so the article content doesn't appear as the recentchanges summary
  2. Name new spoiler images as spoiler <date>.jpg and without a description to hide the identities--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:54, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
  • There's not much one can do to enforce it cause once the spoilers are in the changes, they don't disappear, but maybe we can add something about that to the help?--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:54, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
