Talk:Brigadoon
I'm not sure that we really need this page. It's probably better that we just put a note in the bottom of the Sullivan Bros. Carnival page. Something along the lines of "Sullivan Bros. Carnival shares several characteristics with a Brigadoon, a shanty town which travels from place to place by supernatural means." possibly with a link to a wikipedia article, if it has one. What do you think? I'll add the afd tag. --mc_hammark 04:51, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- That is probably better. Now, we might need this page if we found out that it did travel through its own means, but that's unlikely now. --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. - Agree, this page is a bit of a reference page, which is unneeded if the carnival is the only reference. --Radicell 08:02, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- Kill it. It isn't proven that the carnival is a brigadoon, and if we're merely going to say that it might be, a wikipedia link is all we need.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:19, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
- I agree, I don't see the need for this page. If it's confirmed that the show is actually referencing brigadoons or the show Brigadoon, then we could add the page. I don't even think there needs to be a note on the carnival page unless we are sure of the reference. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:10, 4 June 2010 (EDT)
Ignorance on words here, maybe?
The word is brigadoon, not Brigadoon, the reference to the musical is purely incidental. Surely if something walks like a duck, acts like a duck and talks like a duck it is a duck! So the Carnival can be described being a brigadoon (any out of the way place could be so described). There are many pages that don't make any sense-at least this one is referring to an actual power, hardly any power is actually given names, this is Heroes, not Top Trumps, and if brigadoon doesn't exist it should at least link to what people think the actual power is called! -- Counteract 09:48, 13 June 2010
- That's not how we do things here. The writers never confirmed if they wanted the carnival called a "brigadoon" or not, therefore we cannot speculate and list the carnival as such. I suppose it would be a slightly different issue if brigadoons actually existed, but that's not the case. Furthermore, please don't imply that we're ignorant because we made a decision you weren't fond of. It's not in good spirit and it's bad rhetoric to boot.--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 10:30, 13 June 2010 (EDT)
- I can walk like a duck, act like a duck, and talk like a duck. I'm not a duck. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:24, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
- Is that what you teach your students? --Boycool Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Amen. 09:10, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
- Wait... you can do it too Ryan? Oh my god... I thought it was just me... now I know there are others out there! Time to get an emo haircut, trust bad guys and almost destroy New York with my ability of tricking people into thinking I'm a duck!!! :) --mc_hammark 11:39, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
