Implicit
- The implicit state of any page is already "do not delete." I think this template isn't necessary. The only place I can see it being used is on a page that someone realizes is very likely to be deleted in which case it ultimately will probably be deleted anyway regardless of any template requesting that it not be. As for use on user (sub)pages, they're already not deleted unless requested by the user. (Admin 21:03, 5 September 2007 (EDT))
- My reason for putting this out there, is because I couldn't find a similar opposite of the delete banner. I though there could be times it would be useful where someone wants to either discuss something, or move it to a user area or similar. Frankly, I kinda was worried that the new page I started might get axed. I did a pretty thorough page back in the summer on Paul E. Sylar, (before all the new stuff came out), and was pretty happy with how it turned out, and a day or two after putting it up, noticed that it had been deleted....and I lost all of the work I had put into it. I thought if we have a dnd banner, we could use it to present a reason for not deleting a page too-soon, when it is determined it must go. I would have liked to have been able to have saved that page and/or moved it off somewhere safe...but it was gone before I knew of its certain demise. In cases like that, a page could at least be tagged for temporary pardon so that it doesn't disappear out from under the person who built it. I am not made, just disappointed that it got nixed before I could save it, while I thought it was still be discussed for worth and relevance. I figure there might be other times though, also that a banner like this might come in useful. Of course Admin can nix anything inappropriate, but at least this tag might help creators of pages get a little more consideration or warning, before a page gets deleted. I agree it shouldn't ever be used as an attempt to avoid a delete, but moreso to at least delay an impending one when circumstance might merit it. That's all. (plus I had never made a banner template, and wanted to see if I could make one!) --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/5/2007 21:27 (EST)
- You might not have known this, but admins can undelete articles. If you find any article in the future that gets deleted that you really wanted to work in improving, just let one us know and we can undelete it and move it into your user space. :) (Admin 21:35, 5 September 2007 (EDT))
- I think the original Paul E. Sylar page I did and was deleted, was entered around the first couple of days in August. If you could restore it and move it to my userarea (call it "Pre-Paul") and I will be glad to see it return. I can use what I had started with it, and expand what I am now working on with the new stuff, and hopefully end up with a more full and worthwhile Paul E Sylar page that we can discuss adding back for good. Thanks for letting me know. (I'll get the two pages combined and synched up tomorrow, and then I'll delete one of them that isn't needed.) --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/5/2007 21:50 (EST)
- Done. It's at User:HiroDynoSlayer/Pre-Paul. (Admin 21:54, 5 September 2007 (EDT))

- I agree, there is no need for this template. I can only see it being used on a user page, which I would never delete unless asked to. If somebody were anticipating a page being deleted, then it should either be discussed, or moved to a user page. Plus, having the image of a trash can with a red circle/line and the word "don't" is not not equivalent to a double negative. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:11, 5 September 2007 (EDT)
- No it ain't neither! --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 09/5/2007 22:20 (EST)
- I agree with Ryan that this isn't necessary. This template could be moved to the user namespace and linked to from there if it has to, but I still don't think it's needed. -- Lost Soul talk contribs 12:14, 7 September 2007 (EDT)
- I don't think it's necessary either, but we could add it to Template:afd...LOL.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:12, 7 September 2007 (EDT)
- I have to admit it was tempting to tag this "Do not delete" template with AfD. :) (Admin 13:18, 7 September 2007 (EDT))
- Ah, the irony. I'll go ahead and delete it now since this template isn't needed. If a page is to be deleted, we usually discuss it first. I don't delete user pages unless requested. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:15, 7 September 2007 (EDT)
