  • Thanks, I'm stealing, though. I'm still having a hard time getting it do exactly what I want. Let me try some stuff and then I'm sure I'll come groveling to you for help. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 03:27, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
    • Okay, so it's not perfect, but it gets the idea across. Do we want to go full force with this or is it just fluff? I like the idea that the press of a button will drop in the correct format, but maybe it's best to leave good enough alone. Plus it might make extra maintenance--I can't quite figure out how to make this page update every time a new variable is added to template:infobox character. I also can't figure out how to categorize this page without the category showing up on every new page (though at least it's not showing up on Special:Uncategorizedpages). Another issue: I added template:newpage place, but quickly realized that if we want to do this, we'll probably need to break it down to residences, businesses, etc. Thoughts about the idea? (By the way, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, open a red link to see the buttons I added.) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 04:30, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Help

What I want to do is have this page be automatically updated every time template:character box is updated. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that and not have the code preload also when somebody starts a new page. Is it even possible? — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:28, 22 April 2007 (EDT)

Cumbersome

People really don't make too many mistakes using this preload template. If a mistake is made, we simply fix it up, no big deal. But adding notes to users all over the page and making things that need to be deleted defeat the purpose of the template. If it's cumbersome, it's more trouble than it's worth. I would much rather fix up the rare instances of people putting the wrong formatting or people mistakenly leaving in info that shouldn't be there than have to delete all the extra junk every time I wanted to make a new article. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:06, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
