Unused (and should remain that way). Kill it?--Hardvice (talk) 22:23, 16 November 2007 (EST)

  • Heh, didn't even know this existed. Definitely kill it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:23, 16 November 2007 (EST)
  • I think it could be usefully even if no one is using it. So far no one has lifted pages from wikipedia yet. --Pinkkeith 10:30, 21 November 2007 (EST)
    • It's not about being useful, it's about the fact that we shouldn't be lifting pages from Wikipedia. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:15, 21 November 2007 (EST)
      • Yes, you're right we shouldn't be, that's what this template is trying to say. Its saying that this article is lifted and needs to be rewritten. The reason given that it should be deleted is that it is "unused", but I think it has its place since it is useful, even if it isn't currently being used. --Pinkkeith 10:21, 23 November 2007 (EST)
        • It has never been used in the entire history of our site, nor should it. Why Wikipedia? Should we have a flag for IMDb ripoffs or plagiarism from Memory Alpha? We don't get a lot of people copying directly from Wikipedia, and when we do, we simply remove it or change it. We don't flag it or excuse it. Even though the template recommends rewriting the stolen content, the very existence of the template infers that it's okay to begin with a lift from Wikipedia, and that's simply not the case. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:26, 24 November 2007 (EST)
          • 2 months in the AFD hopper, time to delete.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:29, 21 January 2008 (EST)
          • Actually, it was used when I first setup the site. Before I understood the GFDL I had primed the site using content from Wikipedia. When people from Wikipedia pointed out the terms of the GFDL I setup that template to tag any pages that were still using Wikipedia content so that they could be re-written as soon as possible. I know I rewrote the episode articles from scratch and I think Hardvice rewrote a bunch of the character info pages. The template is, of course, no longer needed as all Wikipedia content was quickly rewritten and we wouldn't allow articles here to be copied from other sites like Wikipedia. This was all before most you joined, so it's a history lesson for those interested. :) (Admin 00:42, 21 January 2008 (EST))
            • I think I was about the 90th person to join here. I suppose I should have said that it hasn't been used the entire time I've been associated with Heroes Wiki. Thanks for the history lesson--always enlightening. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:51, 21 January 2008 (EST)
              • 97th, but who's counting... :) (Admin 00:55, 21 January 2008 (EST))
                • Check my number of edits and then I'll tell you who's counting. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:59, 21 January 2008 (EST)
              • Indeed, enlightening. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:55, 21 January 2008 (EST)
