In various other media that I have seen where the focus of the media largly is not humans or other beings with superpowers, I have seen human characters who none the less posses some sort of ability. Their names, abilites, and media in which they appeared follow.
Matilda Wormwood from Matilda
- Age: 5 or 6 in the book and later film adaptation
- Occupation: Elementary school student
- Ability: Telekinesis
- Limits: Variable, depending on media.
- In the book, she is only capable of using her ability to write on a chalkboard with a piece of chalk, but not without extreme physical strain.
- In the film, she is capable of making the cathode ray tube of a TV explode, moving objects as big as herself, and moving many small objects with no visible strain.
Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly from M*A*S*H
- Age: early 20's during the Korean War, the setting for the original Novel and other adaptations, Age now would be 75 - 80
- Occupation: Clerk at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital
- Abilities: Unidentified ability, Enhanced hearing
- Limits: His enhanced hearing was not very strong, only strong strong enough to hear incoming helicopter-ambulances about 2 seconds before anyone else could.
His other ability may have been a weak form of telepathy, enhanced intellect, or some precognitive ability. It enabled him to accurately predict the orders and needs of his somewhat bumbling superior, Col. Henry Blake.
- Limits: His enhanced hearing was not very strong, only strong strong enough to hear incoming helicopter-ambulances about 2 seconds before anyone else could.
From Lost
A few of the characters on Lost exhibit evolved human-like traits or have been identified as being "special" by other characters.
Jacob
- Age: At least 200
- Ocupation: Messiah among island residents (known as the "Others")
- Ability: Agelessness, may have other abilities
- Jacob has been seen on the island since at least the time of sailing ships, he is first seen on the series (chronologically) talking with a man about a sailing ship arriving to the island. His ability, unlike the Regeneration of Heroes universe, does NOT provide resistance/imunity to harm, as he was stabbed to death in 2008.
Richard Alpert
- Age: At least 70
- Occupation: Position of secondary leadership among the Others
- Ability: Agelessness
- Granted this ability by Jacob via unknown methods at age 35 in the mid 1800's.
Miles Straume
- Age: About 30
- Ocupations: Spiritualist, Security guard
- Ability: Mediumship
- Limits: While being lead to a location at gunpoint, he was able to detect the fact that he walked over an overgrown, unmarked grave. He was also able to identify the number of bodies contained therein and their cause of death. In other instances of its use, he was able to identify the deceased and what they were doing in their last moments. The use of his ability requires him to close his eyes and concentrate as he picks up images and voices from the deceased.
Desmond Hume
- Age: 35-40
- Ocupation: Unemployed, Sails around the world
- Ability: Unidentified
- Has a resistance to levels of electromagnetic radiation that would normally be fatal, which has resulted in time travel of the consciosness. It has ben said that the rules of time/time travel do not apply to him.
Walt Lloyd
- Age: about 14 as of 2008, the "present" in Lost continuity
- Ocupation: none
- Abilities: Astral Projection, unidentified abilities
- Limits: Appeared to another character on the island after he, Walt, escaped the island. Believed to be special by the "Others," he was captured by them. While in their captivity, he exhibited unknown abilities that made the Others leery of him. It is implied in a Lost webisode that he was somehow responsible for the death of birds around his cell.
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes
- Age: About 30
- Ocupations: Many
- Ability: Mediumship
- Limits: Unlike Miles, Hurly's abilities enable him to actually communicate with deceased who haven't quite left the Earthly plane.
From Star Trek: TOS
Miranda Jones
- Age: about 35 in 2268
- Occupation: Psychologist
- Ability: Telepathy
- Limits: Her ability being always on when it manifested, she had to learn to turn it off by studying mental discipline with Vulcans. Able to use her ability to cure insanity caused in a Vulcan by another species, and able to telepathically link to other species.
Flint
- Age: 6103 in 2269
- Occupations: many
- Abilities: Known; Regeneration, Enhanced strength. Possible: Shapeshifting
- Limits: He was only able to regenerate, (and thus benifit from the anti-aging aspect of regeneration) while in exposed to Earth's magnetic fields. After moving from earth in 2239, he began to age normally. His ability also granted him twice the strength of a normal human. Some of the aliases that he had over his long lifetime had different physical appearances, implying that he could shift his appearance.
