Character History

Manifesting

Peter manifested his ability early in life, though the full extent of it would not show up until later in his life. As an elementary school student, he would often covet other peoples skills, as most children do. He would want to draw like one kid, read like another, run or skip like a third. But, unlike most children, he could do something about it. He would covet someones ability, and feel a strange urge to touch that person. Seeming interested in what they were doing, he would put a hand over their shoulder, looking at whatever it was. The longer he kept his hand their shoulder, the more that the tingling sensation went away. Soon it would be gone and he would walk away. Soon, Peter would find that he could do those things now, and the other person couldn't. Now Peter was the fastest, the smartest, and the most artistic. He was becoming the perfect child. But soon, he had become just too good. He no longer felt these urges to absorb attributes. And, seeing as he absorbed these powers when he was young, Peter soon forgot of his amazing ability. For years, his powers laid dormant.

The Second Manifestation

Peter spent the next few years telling himself that he never had that power. That he never drained people people of their skills. He was just really talented, and those other people were all just really unlucky. Believing that he could drain people of their skills would have been craziness, wouldn't it? That was, until he took a trip to Israel.

Being interested in the Middle East region, he and a few friends traveled there the summer after they graduated. The trip was fantastic, filled with exciting stops and exotic locations. Just two hours before they were scheduled to leave, a large explosion ripped through the market in which they were shopping. The explosion through Peter a great distance. Suddenly, a familiar feeling returned to his body. A strange, tingling feeling that he hadn't experienced since he was a little kid. At first he worried if he was injured, but soon found that he was in perfect shape other than a small gash in his arm. Looking up, he saw a man not five feet from his. He was unconscious and bleeding pretty bad. Peter felt an urge to touch him that he first thought was just an urge to help the man. He turned the man over, to see if he was okay. That was when he noticed it. The man had his skull exposed. The skull was silver, almost metallic. And his eye...his eye was a blazing red. At first Peter wanted to shout and run, but then, he got an urge to touch the man's exposed skull. He reached his hand to touch it. The tingling feeling started to fade, yet he still felt that he needed to keep touching. After about ten more seconds the feeling went away, as well as the red light from the man's eye. He looked in disgust as the man's silver skull began to turn white, and the metallic look faded. "What have I done?"

Where do we go from here?

Peter fled the scene of the explosion, running and running, not caring where he went. He ran on and on into the night, into the desert. Finally, exhausted and confused, Peter collapsed on the ground, going into a deep sleep. When he woke the next morning, he was still horribly confused. What did he do to that man? Why did that man look like that? Why had he felt like he needed to touch that man? Peter's eye's noticed something on his arm, or rather, something in his arm. The cut he had received from the explosion had something in it, or so he thought. He reached over to his arm to inspect the cut. Gently pulling apart the cut, he looked inside. He was shocked. Inside his arm, he could see his bones. They were metallic, just like the man's skull. Peter began to panic. How is that possible? What had he done to that man? Suddenly he remembered his childhood. Those times that he had touched those other kids, and been able to do what they do. Maybe that was possible...maybe...

Memories, Sweet Memories

For the next six months, Peter lived in the Israeli countryside, wandering from town to town. He knew that his friends must think that he died in the suicide bombing, but he didn't care. He would return to the States, as soon as he figured out what was going on with himself. At first he was confused over what had happened to him, but slowly, he began to "remember" things. He began to know things about his now metal skeleton that he shouldn't know. He had already come to grips with his absorption of certain traits and skills, but what he proposed was craziness. Maybe he had absorbed portions of the man's memories. That would explain the strange bits of flashbacks he would get.

Peter tried to delve deeper into his knowledge, trying pull out more absorbed memories. What he found shocked him. The man had been a member of some sort of organization. The organization targeted people like him. People who could do amazing things. This man had been teamed with a normal person, and they had hunted down these people like they were animals. This Company had a facility set up in Baghdad. Not only did he have a need to go there and find out more about his abilities, he also had a strange craving to go there that grew every time he would "remember" the powers people had there. He realized that he had to get there.

Welcome to Primatech Shipping

Days later, Peter arrived in Baghdad. Though he had never been here before, it seemed familiar. The more he tried to access the absorbed, the more they became mixed into his own. It was getting harder to figure out whose memories were whose. He tried to remember where the facility was. It was located in a large warehouse on the outskirts of town. It was labeled "Primatech Paper Shipping" as a cover up. After about an hour of searching, he found the building. The memories told him that there was a door around back that, if given the right code, would open up to reveal an elevator. This elevator would take the rider down to the actual facility down below. Peter quickly figured out the code and punched it in. Making sure that no one was looking he walked into the rickety elevator. The elevator screeched as it went down the shaft. The light flickered eerily, bringing back false memories. Finally the ride down was over, and Peter stepped out. The halls were white and polished and the whole facility had the look of a pristine medical facility. The halls were strangley empty and barren, almost eerily. Suddenly, a voice called out behind him: "I see you've arrived Peter."

A Company Meeting

Peter spun around. There was no one behind him. The voice revealed to him that it had the ability of telepathy. It was communicating with him from another room, deep within the complex. The voice also revealed his name to be Charles Vear. Vear told Peter that because of Peter's powers, they would have to kill him because he was a danger. But, because he had absorbed a Company agent's mind and now knew his way around the building, they would allow him to work for them, as long as he did what he was told. Peter questioned why he would want to work for them. Charles said that there was a perk. They often would capture individuals that were extremely dangerous and had vital information. They would use Peter to absorb their memories and their abilities, giving both parties what they wanted. Peter immediately felt the tingling feeling in his arms intensify. He needed those powers. Badly. Peter agreed to join. Charles told him, that in appreciation for joining him, he would receive a gift. He told him to walk down the hall. Peter obeyed. Vear told him to open the nearest door on the left. Peter once again obeyed. Inside the room was a man strapped to a table in the middle of the room. Charles told his that the man had an ability, a very useful ability. The man had Precognition. Peter's arms immediately tingled uncontrollably. Charles told him that they would let him take the ability, if he also took the person's knowledge to give to them. Peter agreed. He walked over and touched the man. Immediately he began to feel the draining process. The sensation went away. He had gotten the ability.

One Year Later

It had been a year since he had first joined the Company and absorbed Precognition. Peter, while promised thousands of abilities to take, he had yet to be allowed to take one. While the man who had talked to Peter had said he would be treated as a full agent, he was being treated like an experiment. Peter had full access to the entire Primatech Shipping Facilities, but was unable to leave. Every day they would come into his "room" (An office converted into a bedroom) around 3:00 and preform tests on him. Usually, it dealt with his mind. Sometimes it was easy, like absorbing memories from some normal person. Other times they would bring in a dead person, and try to get Peter to see if he could absorb their memories. Peter never could, but they kept trying.

But what made him feel even worse was that everyone was ignoring him. People would walk right past him, as if he didn't even exist. The only people who would talk to him were those that came to experiment on him.
