He might hate himself for being a freak and chooses to suppress his power which means he has a high degree of control over it. Perhaps he wanted to expose Claire so that all suspicions on himself would be transferred onto Claire, but when she persuaded him that it would break up the family, he chose not to expose anyone. I do think his powers are offensive since he would have used a defensive power against an intruder. |
