Ability Naming Conventions
The following sources are used for determining evolved human ability names, in order:

Note: The highlighted row represents the level of the source used to determine sedation's name.

Sound Manipulation

It is just me or could this one be sound manipulation like Echo DeMille's or Jesse Murphy's? I could be wrong though, but it seemed like sound manipulation to me anyways.

Name Source?

Where is the name "sedation" coming from. It works, and I like it, but this really should be "Samson Gray's Ability" until we can get a consensus if we have no canon sources. ( Talk To Jakk55 ) 02:13, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

• We didn't get a canon name for Body Insertion either, but we didnt call it Future Peter's Ability. The last thing we need are more Soandso's Ability's. I'm all for everyone suggesting new ideas for names, as long as it's not named after the user.--Piemanmoo 02:17, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

    • Hypnosis implies that Samson made his son do what he wanted him to do while using his power, which didn't seem the case to me. Sedation is a good common name for the ability.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:34, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
• Sleep paralysis: A frightening form of paralysis that occurs when a person suddenly finds himself or herself unable to move for a few minutes, most often upon falling asleep or waking up. Sleep paralysis is due to an ill-timed disconnection between the brain and the body.

• If we have consensus on a name, we don't need to name the power "Samson Gray's ability". I'm fine with "sedation". I'm also fine with "hypnosis", though I think that's not as good a choice since it has a different connotation (psychologists, swinging watches, and stage tricks all come to mind). I think "sedation" is fine. But if we have opposition to it, or can't find a name that everyone agrees on, that's when we'll have to revert to "Samson's ability". It Looked Odd

When Sampson was whistling I thought we were going to have Sylar use Clairsentience because of the tune (didn't remember you need to actually touch it) but then the commercial happened, and then when it came back its like the scene before never happened. But I guess looking back it was obvious that Sampson used it as an ability as opposed to a tune that would trigger some memory.--Dman dustin 09:34, 10 March 2009 (EDT)

• I don't think that's him using the sedation power. If I'm not mistaken, he's using telekinesis to hold the rabbit in place. I think the sedation power is when he whistles--that's what made Sylar drowsy. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:26, 10 March 2009 (EDT)
