• The town known as Ithaca, NY is a real-world area located inside a city of the same name. The City of Ithaca, NY has a separate government and neither is considered part of the other.
• Although the drawing of the campus in the graphic novel resembles that of the real-life Ithaca College, which is located completely in the town. However, it is unknown as to which college Anna is supposed to be attending. Part of the main campus of Cornell University is also located in the town of Ithaca, NY.

• Ithaca, NY is the birthplace of Heroes artist Tim Sale and Heroes actor Blake Shields.
• Heroes actor Michael Maury, who plays Lloyd, has a degree in Music Education from the real-life Ithaca College.
• The real-world town is shaped somewhat like a horseshoe and surrounds the City of Ithaca, NY. Both the town and city are named after the Greek island of Ithaca.
