"A Clockwork Orange" on Wikipedia

A Clockwork Orange is the 1971 film adaptation of the novel A Clockwork Orange (1962), by Anthony Burgess. The adaptation was produced, written, and directed, by Stanley Kubrick. It stars Malcolm McDowell as the charismatic delinquent Alex.

About

Parasite

Hiro uses a computer in Linderman's archives to find the Kensei sword. The computer indicates the sword's catalog number is CRM-114. In A Clockwork Orange, the main character Alex is given Experimental Serum 114, a phonetic play on CRM-114. The code CRM-114 has been used in multiple films directed by Stanley Kubrick, first as the name of a faulty radio seen in Dr. Strangelove, and also in Eyes Wide Shut and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Notes

  • Malcolm McDowell, who portrays Mr. Linderman, is possibly best known for his portrayal of Alex in A Clockwork Orange.
  • In Back to the Future, the amplifier in Dr. Brown's laboratory is labeled CRM-114.
  • On Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the Breen manufacture a hand-held weapon called the CRM 114.
  • The film was adapted from the American version of the novel, which until recently did not include the original final chapter. It thus ends quite differently than Burgess intended.
  • Jason Badower said that he used Malcolm McDowell's image in A Clockwork Orange as a basis for drawing Austin in War Buddies, Parts 4 and 5.
