The Second Coming
At home, Malden watches a news report on Nathan Petrelli's miraculous recovery and renewed faith, and calls into the next room to Tracy Strauss that Petrelli might be "our guy."

The next day, Malden and his aide Tracy consider whether to ask Nathan to fill the junior senator seat left open after the death of Gerald Dickinson. Ultimately, at Tracy's insistence, he agrees to appoint Nathan.

- In reality the governor of New York in 2007 was Eliot Spitzer. His successor is David Paterson who became governor on March 17, 2008 after Eliot Spitzer resigned from office.
