Deputy Gill was the ranking deputy at the Cainan, GA, sheriff's office, and worked under the command of the Cainan sheriff. He was familiar with Jeremy Greer's obsession with death and killing small animals. When Noah tries to get the boy released, Gill reads from Jeremy's journal to show Jeremy's proclivities.
Later, Deputy Gill takes Jeremy from his cell and out into a back alley. He and another local man attach chains to Jeremy's feet and prepare to drag him to his death.
