*I removed your addition to the Linderman theory because of the spoiler information. That would be more fitting on the [[Spoiler:.07%]] fan theories section. Also, when adding something a note, make sure you put it on a new line (a <nowiki><br> tag before the {{plus}}</nowiki> is sufficient). Thanks.--[[User:Baldbobbo|Bob]] 19:23, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

** Actually, spoiler articles and videos can go in Theories, just not under the "Citations" column. [[User:Heroe|<span style="color:green">Heroe!</span>]]<small>[[User talk:Heroe|<span style="color:#000000">(talk)</span>]]</small> 19:26, 12 April 2007 (EDT)

Redirect to Spoilers Page

Hi, Xmuskrat. I redirected the link to "Episode 12" on Hiro and the Dinosaur (painting) to the Spoiler:Godsend because the episode hasn't aired yet. Even though you and I know the episode hasn't aired yet, we get lots of visitors that aren't as familiar with the show as we are. I wouldn't want anybody to get the wrong impression that they missed an episode, or that something happened that they missed. I'm going to change it back now because that info really is a spoiler still. Thanks for understanding. :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:27, 8 January 2007 (EST)

I totally understand. But you actually might bring more people to the spoiler that way. If somebody clicks on the words "Episode 12" do they expect that they will go to the page that shows episode 12 of heroes, or to the episode 12 spoilers page? So by changing the link, you're just making another link to the spoilers page. In fact, how can somebody tell through the text "Episode 12" that they are even going to a spoilers page at all? --Xmuskrat 16:32, 8 January 2007 (EST)
You make a great point. I feel funny directing to an empty page, but let me see if I can work on the wording. Thanks. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:51, 8 January 2007 (EST)
My only goal there was to try to let people know that episode 12 was the next episode coming up. Just to let them know they'd get an answer to the dinosaur thing in this next upcoming episode. Maybe we should re-write the note on the dino page, and have a link to the spoilers page with the rest of Masi's quote. --Xmuskrat 16:54, 8 January 2007 (EST)
No you're right, the wording is okay the way it is. I just fixed the link back, and you're right - it's better to go to Godsend rather than the spoiler page. There's a link to the spoilers page on Godsend. Thanks! :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:51, 8 January 2007 (EST)

Category

Hi! The syntax to link a category is the following : [[:Category:whatyouwant]]. Thanks for your contributions. --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 17:04, 25 March 2007 (EDT)i

  • Thanks! I missed that intial colon. Just wanted the link to work, so I improvised. :) I definately appreciate some tips so I can be a more valuable member of the community. --Xmuskrat 17:46, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
    • You're a very valuable member of the community, Xmuskrat--you make great contributions to the site. And way to improvise. That was a creative way to do what you needed--I was quite impressed! ... Just so you know, the colon in front of the category link simply makes a blue link to the category, rather than including the page in the category. It's the same thing with an image. If I type [[:Image:Clairebennet mini.jpg]], I get a link: Image:Clairebennet mini.jpg. However, if I leave off the colon and type [[Image:Clairebennet mini.jpg]], then I get the picture: . Hope that explains things a bit. :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:16, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
      • Thanks, RGS! I should know this, as I have 1500+ contribs to WoWWiki. I've just gotten tired of playing Warcraft, but love collecting information for people to read as content, especially the way things will be shaped in the future. I've been totally blown away with Heroes this season, and I want to help people get hooked on it. The people here are also really great and they always seem to listen to what you have to say, so long as you're willing to put your ideas out there. You can't ask for more then that in any community. --Xmuskrat 18:24, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
        • ...Encouraging television addiction in people--always a good cause! ... You're welcome, I'm glad to help out. I agree, this is a fantastic community. There seems to be great discussion, and people are generally very respectful of each other. I often have questions myself, and I always get answers right away. Beyond that, I think the bulk of the contributors here are very understanding of a new user's limitations, or even of an experienced user's forgetfulness. We're all on different learning curves, and I have felt very comfortable here as I learn wiki-ese. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:38, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
          • I guess TV addition isn't that good of a cause. Mostly, I think Heroes really shows people how good stories are told. I was a huge Bryan Fuller fan before the show started and thought he was an excellent writer. Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me were excellent series. There is something about the way Bryan tells a story. He gives you the pieces you'd expect, but not quite the way you'd expect them. Somehow, in that process, he shows something human about the characters he writes. Company Man is a great example of that. I'm just a fan of good stories and love watching ideas being born.

Hey, Xmuskrat. Cute picture you uploaded. Could you put the source where you got the picture, just for copyright purposes? Even if you just put the website it's from or where ever you got it, that's fine. Then you can erase the Category:Uncredited Images. Thanks! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:48, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

No problem. --Xmuskrat 20:11, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

Edits

Hey XM, just to let you know you don't have 500 edits but 120 at the moment :). The only way to count I think is to check out your own contributions, set the page limit to 500, and then click "Older" or whatever, counting the number of pages. If you've got three full pages, then you've done at least 1500 edits, etc etc. See you and thank you! --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 15:19, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

I was counting the number of keystrokes I've made in all my edits. Uh, yeah. --Xmuskrat 15:35, 26 March 2007 (EDT)

Theories

  • I removed your addition to the Linderman theory because of the spoiler information. That would be more fitting on the Spoiler:.07% fan theories section. Also, when adding something a note, make sure you put it on a new line (a <br> tag before the {{plus}} is sufficient). Thanks.--Bob 19:23, 12 April 2007 (EDT)
    • Actually, spoiler articles and videos can go in Theories, just not under the "Citations" column. Heroe!(talk) 19:26, 12 April 2007 (EDT)
