Linda has a power, and was a private investigator. - Linda is dead. + Why give Linda a backstory if she wasn't going to appear in future episodes. - Episodes and novels are not inter-connected for the most part. Since there is quite a while until the Episodes return the novel writers come up with unrelated story lines. This is what happened with the season 1-2 break.
