- Sylar has murdered D.L. Hawkins and gained the power of phasing.
- Sylar has murdered Nathan Petrelli, gained the power of flight, and become President of the United States.
- Homeland Security enforces draconian policies of registration and monitoring for evolved humans. These policies grew out of the Linderman Act.
- Mohinder Suresh is the President's advisor on evolved humans. He has been trying to discover a way to "cure" evolved humans, without success.
