Joe Kelly interview

  • Joe Kelly very graciously agreed to answer some questions for us. He's just going to check with NBC to make sure he's allowed to say what he wants. I'd like to send the questions off by the end of the week, so we'll need to move on some questions. Post your questions below and I'll pick out the best ones. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:02, 25 June 2007 (EDT)
  • I'm sending off questions tomorrow so make sure any questions you have for Joe are submitted within the next 12 or so hours. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:48, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

Interview questions

I've already asked Joe what he would name Guillame's power. (See here for his response.) I don't mind offshoot questions about that, but I won't ask him the same question again directly. Everything else is fair game. Okay, ask away. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:06, 25 June 2007 (EDT)

  • In reply to Joe's answer, I would ask flat-out if Guillame's power could be thought of as manipulating people's hormones. (ie. drug = hormone?)--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:50, 26 June 2007 (EDT)
  • How much creative control does NBC give you? --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 17:04, 25 June 2007 (EDT)
  • What's the novel writing process like? Do you have to coordinate with the other writers to ensure all the information remains consistent between the episodes and the graphic novels? Do you write the script yourself or is it a collaborative process from the start? (Admin 17:13, 25 June 2007 (EDT))
  • Is Betty's last name Pricher?--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:49, 26 June 2007 (EDT)
  • JK Question 1....Is the name of The Haitian 'Boy', since Guillame refers to him by that title 6 times in the series, and never by a specific name? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 06/26/2007 17:35 (EST)
  • JK Question 2....Since you show The Haitian manifesting his power over a large group, and considerable range, would you have any insight on why in (Hiros)), The Haitian wasn't able to block Nathan's flight power from a closer ranger, nor block Peter's powers on the roof in (Unexpected) at a similar close range. Both of those ranges appear closer in distance than the crowd The Haitian controls in the novel series. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 06/26/2007 17:35 (EST)
  • What were your deadlines for the script? When did you have to get the scripts to the artists?
  • What was it like working with three different artists for one story ([Michael Gaydos]], Staz Johnson, and Tom Grummett)?
  • How much did you already know about Voodoo, and how much research did you have to do on the subject? Where did you find your research?
  • What changes were made to your scripts? What notes were you given that were particularly enlightening?
  • Is there anything about the Haitian's story that you wish you could have put in the series but weren't able to for some reason?
  • What year is It Takes a Village set?
  • What inspired the story about the serpent and the crane? I've seen some references to it in martial arts, but I couldn't find anything about it from Voodoo or Haitian traditions. Was it your own creation?
