Arnold was one of Samuel's "family" in the carnival. He was an evolved human with the ability of space-time manipulation. Arnold died after repeated uses of his ability and a tumor.
Character History
Orientation
Arnold attends Joseph Sullivan's funeral, and is helped back to the carnival by Edgar. Samuel later comes to him, and Arnold asks him if they are really going to stop running. Samuel says yes, and then asks him to send him back fourteen years into the past, just one more time.
Jump, Push, Fall
Edgar asks Samuel if "the Chinese guy" is going to be replacing Arnold. Samuel insists that family members can't be replaced.
Hysterical Blindness
Arnold has breakfast alongside other carnival members.
Once Upon a Time in Texas
Samuel has the old man send him back three years to Midland, TX and the Burnt Toast Diner. Later, after Hiro saves Charlie and affirms their relationship, Samuel has Arnold teleport Charlie somewhere in time. Arnold dies from the strain, and Samuel informs Hiro that he is now the only person who knows where Charlie is.
Graphic Novel:Smoke & Mirrors
Amanda comes across a memorial to Arnold set up on the grounds of the carnival. She comments that he must have been popular and overhears several carnies commenting about Arnold's death and Samuel's possible input. It is also shown how Arnold brought Charlene Andrews from the past to the present.
Evolved Human Abilities
Arnold sent Samuel back in time, fourteen years ago. Arnold was also able to physically travel through time as was shown when he brought Charlene Andrews from the past to the present. (Smoke & Mirrors)
Notes
- According to the casting call, Arnold was originally named "Ernie". He was an old man (65+ years old) "who is on his last leg."
