Name

  • Only One Giant Leap and Don't Look Back credit "Shankar". It's been "Shenkar" in every episode since.--Hardvice (talk) 13:07, 2 January 2007 (EST)
    • You know, sometimes I wish these people would just surf the internet a bit, and provide the correct information for us  :) --Orne 13:35, 2 January 2007 (EST)
      • Found this reprint of a biographical music mag article. Within, it refers to a self-titled album L. Shankar. I should hope Mr. S. would know how to spell his own name... --Orne 13:43, 2 January 2007 (EST)
        • If it is L. Shankar, he was definitely born "Shankar", but has been using "Shenkar" on some projects.--Hardvice (talk) 13:48, 2 January 2007 (EST)
      • To make matters worse, there's also an Indian vocalist named Shankar Mahadevan who is also sometimes credited as "Shankar", "Shenkar", or even "Sjenkar". Stil, my money's on the violinist L Shankar, even though he's less well known as a vocalist, because he has been crediting himself as "Shenkar" on recent projects (and Mahadevan's name is part of his band's name, so I doubt he'd randomly change spelling). My guess is they're both probably sick of being confused with Ravi Shankar. Oh fun: they've also both been a part of Shakti. This isn't at all confusing!--Hardvice (talk) 13:48, 2 January 2007 (EST)
        • ... especially since they're now related by marriage. I think you may be right, it makes sense to differentiate artists. Any chance we can get Tim Kring on the phone to clarify? --Orne 13:53, 2 January 2007 (EST)
          • If we can find it, we could email L. Shankar's representation (maybe by checking good ol' WhorePresents.com) and ask about his involvement in Heroes. If they bother to answer, we should be able to either call it a day or repeat with each and every Shankar/Shenkar on the planet.--Hardvice (talk) 14:00, 2 January 2007 (EST)
