Ryan Hanover is a soldier in the United States Marine Corps recruited by Pinehearst as part of their super soldier program.

With a team of fifty recruits, Ryan trains at Primatech Research in Fort Lee.

In a flashback, Ryan is seen gathering up three samples of the Genetic modification formula for usage for himself, Rachel Mills and David Sullivan. Ryan expressed his belief girls shouldn't be in the military, and quickly came into conflict with Mills, with Ryan daring Mills to be the first one to be injected. Suddenly, an unknown explosion goes off, and in the aftermath, Ryan is nowhere to be seen.
