Remer Edward is the only son of Joe and Evie Edward, a pair of evolved humans. His parents worked for an Organization that used people with abilities. His parents, wanting something better for their son, tried to escape from the Organization. They managed to go on the run (much to Remer's dismay) for years. Operatives of the Organization finally caught up with them in Caracas, Venezuela. His parents were murdered and he had nowhere to go. Deciding that the Organization needed to be stopped, he decided to use his abilities to make sure they never hurt anyone again. Knowing alone he did not stand a change, he decided to head back to the States to find help. In his parents files he found a lead, Rebel.

Character History

Backstory....

BIRTH (14 February 1989)….
Remer was born to a couple of powerful evolved humans, Joseph (Joe) Edward with the power of Ability Detection and Eva (Evie) Edward with the power of Ability Suppression in Coral Gables, Florida. Remer’s parents worked for an Organization that dealt with the recruiting and training of evolved humans to further their own agenda. This Organization knew, as did Remer’s parents, that the offspring of two such individuals would result in a potentially powerful ability. Almost immediately after birth Joe was questioned regarding when and what Remer would manifest. He realized he could not lie outright, they would never believe him, so he told them he would manifest shortly after his 16th birthday with the ability of Selective Mimicry. This excited them to say the least. Determined not to condemn their son to the lives they currently lead, they put a plan in motion ensure that would never happen.

6 YEARS OLD(March 1995)….
Remer had grown into a happy six year child. He had a strong and loving relationship with his parents and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. At this age he was to be sent to a ‘special’ school run by the Organization, a school for gifted children as well as the children of members of the Organization. The curriculum was geared discreetly towards a skill set that would benefit an agent: i.e. tactics, athletics, deductive reasoning etc... Given his thirst for knowledge, he excelled in many areas from math and sciences academically to martial arts and tennis athletically; he was at the forefront of nearly all he tried. His parents had instilled in him a desire to never quit and a compassion for others. He was truly a well rounded individual by the time he would be twelve.

12 YEARS OLD (April 2001)….
Remer had a full life, a life of structure and fun. He was raised to be the best person he could be by a set of parents that were less than they wanted to be. All of the years working with the Organization, helping them hunt and control their own had taken a toll. The burden was eased by their son, a bright light in a dismal existence. Joe had lied about the time Remer would manifest and the ability he would actually hold. He would manifest in three years not four. Their plans would soon be put in motion. They would leave the Organization and their lives behind. Only question is, how would Remer react and adapt. To make matters worse, their new handler was one of the brightest and ruthless to come along in years, a seriously Serious Looking Woman.

On the run....

16 YEARS OLD (May 2005)….
It was time for the family’s yearly vacation. They were going to Spain for Christmas. Evie had family that had migrated from Cuba over sixty years ago. They flew over and made their way to Madrid. They settled in and Joe had a great idea. Why stay in the confines of the city when they could spend it in the country. They spent some time relaxing and then came two of the hardest days Remer would ever remember. He would celebrate his 15th birthday alone and on the run from his life. He was told the truth about the Organization, the truth about his ability, the truth about when he would manifest, the truth about his future if the Organization had its way and the truth about his parents and the jobs they did. Remer actually understood all that had been said and what that meant. The alternative to life in the Organization meant a life spent in anonymity. He did not like it, he did not like a lot of what he was told but he knew the risk his parents were taking to better his life and maybe seek a little redemption for their own. The next few years would involve more training and a nomadic lifestyle at best. Remer showed great potential and took to his agent training without any reservations at all. The most important lesson he learned was that of secrecy for the true nature of his ability would make the company pursue him even harder as well as make him a pariah amongst people with abilities. During that time he refined the mimicry aspect of his ability by mimicking and dropping his parent’s abilities.

19 YEARS OLD (September 2008)….
After spending a few years in Europe they traveled to South America. While moving through Peru, Remer met a young man named Santiago. He could tell that he had the ability of Accelerated Probability. He acted that he was lost and asked for directions. Remer thanked him and shook his hand. He took Santiago’s ability and he was none the wiser. He told his parents and needless to say they were none to happy. While they saw the benefit in Remer mimicking another’s ability, they would have preferred to have a more controlled situation, not two people passing in the street. They could not overlook the fact that he mimicked the ability and the original holder was none the wiser.

3 MONTHS LATER (December 2008)….
Remer and his family had been living in Venezuela for almost eight months. Remer was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and loved living where he could communicate with the locals. They were enjoying a break in their movements, perhaps a little too much. Today started like any other day but it would be the day that would change Remer’s life forever. He came home to find a four man team and his parents lying on the floor of the home they were staying at outside of Caracas. He rushed to his parents and found them to each have multiple bullet wounds, they were bleeding profusely. He wanted to go get help but his parents did not allow it. They told him to listen because there was not much time. He needed to take their abilities through the absorption aspect of his ability. He needed to take it and leave nothing behind. He understood because he had been briefed about an agent of the Organization, Brad Martinez that had the power of Ability Transference. An ability that could transfer ones gifts to another. The agent had developed it to the point of working on a target even if the target had been dead for up to 48 hours. He resigned himself to do it. He grasped his parents tightly and drained them. When he mimicked abilities it was like a small surge, a series of pinpricks. When he absorbed his parent’s abilities he felt like he was on fire. It was a surge he had never experienced before and it scared him. It was almost addicting. He realized all of the training and coaching his parent’s did was to prepare him for the seductive nature of his ability. His mother passed away first and then his father. They bade him to be careful and said their goodbyes and regrets. Remer heard something from behind him and his AccelProb kicked in. He had it for years and was quite adept at its use. Another benefit from his father’s ability but even that appeared heightened since absorbing that ability a mere moment ago. Before he realized it, he had his mothers H&K USP Compact .40 pistol in his hand and standing behind the fifth member of the team. The man said that he heard the shots and came over to see if he could help (while secretly moving towards his own pistol). Remer did not even give him a chance; he had already detected his ability of Rapid Cellular Regeneration. Remer was still young and had never shot anyone before. He was loathe to start now even after the part this person played in his parents deaths but he got lost in thought. The agent made his move and Remer reacted by shooting first, putting two rounds in his heart. He ripped out the agents ability. Remer packed up all of his parent’s computer files, gather all of the money he had. Fleeced the agents and took their vehicle. He drove to the city limits and came upon a decision. With how he was raised and what he was taught, he realized he had to fight this Organization. Help others like himself and those enslaved by the company. He remembered from his parent’s files that there were several options open to him. While on the move they used their connections to keep informed. Looking over the files he noticed three possibilities. The first was Primatech Paper Company. It was a company in like the Organization. This Company was currently closed down. He crossed that off as a possibility. He did not look forward to working for any company. The second was a Sullivan Bros. Carnivalcarnival for evolved humans run by a man named Joseph Sullivan. Their research showed that Mr. Sullivan had died and the carnival was currently being run by his brother, Samuel Sullivan. The third was the most promising. A group of young evolved humans trying to better the world for all people, evolved or not. He decided that was the way to go. He also made the decision not to avoid evolved humans as he had done since he and his family had gone into hiding. If the opportunity presented itself to obtain another’s ability he would mimic it. If he ran into someone that abused their gifts, he would absorb it. He resolved too not take another life, ever but he would not allow himself to be hurt again.

1 WEEK LATER (December 2008)….
He ran through South America and Central America and into San Diego, California. He boarded a flight and headed to New York. He headed to Rebel.

Finding Rebel....

NEW YORK (January 2009)….
He got to New York but was not sure of how to contact Rebel. He was pretty sure that based on the information the Organization had on Rebel, he or she was capable of either Electronic Communication or Technopathy. He decided he would reach out via the world wide web. He mad his way to a food court in the airport that had free wi-fi and sent out a small blurb. “Rebel, I am here”. He thought it tacky but what more could you ask for. It was short and to the point. He had noticed that there were several evolved humans in the area, a luggage handler with super strength, a passenger that would develop visual abilities soon and a disheveled passenger with TK trying to pick up an attendant that was trying to mind her own business. He people watched for about ten minutes and felt he had remained long enough. He packed up his notebook and readied himself to leave when he noticed that the telekinetic was following the attendant (thanks to the agent training he received at the hands of his parents). He decided to leave in the same direction that they went. He was fairly well trained in tracking by his parents but there was no mistaking the fact that Santiago's ability helped out immeasurably. They turned the corner and as he was about to follow an elderly passenger asked him for a little help getting reading her ticket. Of all of the times to have to give directions. He helped out the passenger and rounded the corner. He had lost them. He kicked it into high gear and scoured the area. He came upon a side door leading to the cleaning crews supply hold and found them. The man was attempting to force himself on the woman and with his TK, she really was not posing much of a threat. Remer sped in and neutralized his ability and knocked him unconscious then hid out of site. The attendant in torn clothes ran out screaming. Remer knew this man was to dangerous even for the police as he was. Remer knew it was the right thing to do after all he was not seen intervening, but picking up abilities worried him. One thing was to mimic another to violate someone similarly to what this man was trying to do. He did not like it but felt he had no choice, he absorbed this mans telekinetic ability and left him for the cops. He sped out and hung around the area just long enough to witness the local police remove him (in handcuffs) and the attendant be looked after. He would have to keep trying to contact Rebel and in the interim, he had a new ability to get used to. An interesting welcome to New York to say the least, here less than three hours and he already bettered someone else’s life. He made a difference, the first of many he thought to himself as he walked out of the airport.

SEVERAL WEEKS LATER (January 2009)….
Remer still had no luck contacting Rebel. He looked over his parents files several times to see if he find an alternate way of locating Rebel. He looked over his parents files and came across an evolved human with the gift of clairvoyance with a last known address in Piscataway, NJ. Remer deduced that he could use that ability to locate Rebel. Remer sped over and put the training he received from his parents to work. He found the boy at home and observed him to make sure that everything was safe (for the boy and himself) prior to making contact. Remer decided to meet him after football practice (he was the starting QB for his school). Remer presented himself as a fan and they spoke for a few minutes. Flash (had to be a nickname), hearing his friends call over to him, got up to leave. Remer thanked him for his time and they parted company with a handshake. Remer collected this ability the same way that he picked up Santiago's (along with Flash's autograph). He sped back to New York hoping to find Rebel.

IMPROMPTU MEETING
Remer used his latest ability to try and locate Rebel. He was in a quandary because when he tried to zero in on Rebel, he was drawn to multiple locations. He tried to zero in on the closest location to no avail. He determined that Rebel was a group rather than an individual. Dejected, he started walking down the street when he heard a woman cry out that her baby had fallen. He raced around the corner to were he heard the cry and caught the baby. The pedestrian barely knew what happened. As he held the baby, he spotted a teenage girl looking at him from across the street. She was staring at him. He figured she saw him speed onto the scene and noticed that she possessed several abilities. He handed the baby to her mother (she had made her way down as he stared at the girl across the street) and kept walking. As he walked away he noticed that the girl had made her way across the street and was following him. He led her down a less busy street and ran up behind her. She was startled and tried to push him back, only it did not work. She was a little scared. He started to tell her not to be afraid when she took of running. He thought pf giving chase but did not want to alarm her further. He could not resist practicing his clairvoyance. He waited for her to get out of his sight and he sped once around the city and then homed in on her. He passed right by her realizing that this was a very good ability to have. He thought about continuing to look for Rebel, but thought that he did not have the means to do so. Instead he decided to track down the carnivalin his parents files. Maybe he would have better luck since he at least had a name, Samuel Sullivan as a point of reference.
