Annapurna tells Ando that her grandfather is the man she always wanted to please, and it was because of threats to him that she agreed to marry Deepak.
Later, at the wedding, Annapurna's grandfather learns that Annapurna did not want a traditional marriage. He supports her decision because he also wants her to be happy.

- According to the casting call, Anna's grandfather is aged 50 to 65, and is "a warm man of very traditional values and ideals. He loves his family."
