How does this page works

Mhh, I've some problems with this cat, for exemple, Tokyo, Japan has been added as a non-fictional places, but isnt Tokyo a location and not a place ? Something else, Las Vegas Police Department has only been drawn in the Graphic Novel:Snapshots and I was wondering if the fact that this place appears here means that the drawn is exactly how the REAL place looks like or it's just about the name : Las Vegas Police Department. In fact, my problem is : should the place in the show be recorded in the REAL place to appear here or should it just be named as the real place and recorded in studio for exemple ? Hope it's clear... --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 12:13, 25 March 2007 (EDT)

  • You are absolutely right: it's for Places, not Locations (all of the Locations are non-fictional so far ... no made-up countries or cities). The only criteria is that the place actually exists in the real world, not that it's properly depicted in the show. (Otherwise, none of these would be "non-fictional places", since the show only films in the Los Angeles area. Basically, it just distinguishes places the writers made up (like the Deveaux building) from those they didn't (like Port Washington Harbor, which is a real harbor in New York).--Hardvice (talk) 12:23, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
    • Sorry about that. I still get places and locations mixed up a bit. Heroe(talk) 12:26, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
      • Hehe no problem Heroe I was also hesitating about Hiroshima :) But my question wasn't about your edits in particular, it was more about the meanning of the word "real" in a fictionnal show but Hardvice answered it. --FrenchFlo(talk)(contribs) 12:29, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
      • Oddly enough, I was just thinking last night that maybe we should rename Category:Locations to Category:World Locations. It would take some doing, but it might make things clearer. I've never really been all that comfortable with Places vs. Locations -- I think we need separate cats for them, but it seems arbitrary which is called what (the reason being that, once upon a time, we had locations but not places). I think "World Locations", which is what the navbar says, makes it clearer what the category is for.--Hardvice (talk) 12:42, 25 March 2007 (EDT)
