About

In high school, Rand worked at Photo Heck, a one-hour-photo/digital imaging lab in Solvang, California. There, he was a retouch artist for still photographs using Photoshop 3.0. Rand would take old photographs that had been torn or bleached out by the elements of nature, or photographs of people that the owners no longer wanted in the photograph (such as ex-spouses), and would retouch the photographs. Rand spent hours stitching up the photos and color balancing them so they would appear as the clients requested. Among his customers were John and Bo Derek, whom Rand even tutored in how to use Photoshop.

Over the years, Rand felt compelled to edit and do video production. Rand took what he learned with still photographs, and applied it to videos, with the help of Apple's Final Cut Pro. During this time, he also was helping a friend edit an independent film, which was also in need of some color correction. Rand brought up the 3-way color corrector, went for the mid-tones and the highlights, pulled out a blue cast, and quickly realized that he still had a passion for color correction. After several projects where he really perfected his craft, Rand began a company called Digital Omni, which specializes in color correction, titles, and online editing.

Besides Heroes, Rand has done color correction work for Bleeder, Imagine This!, Eyes of the Woods, and Rejouer. Rand is also a director of photography camera operator. He has shot for numerous other clients. Rand has also acted in several films and television shows.
