The Joker

This has nothing to do with Heroes but I was unable to find it on the web, does anyone knows how The Joker got the scars on his mouth? In the movie he tells to different stories how he got them, mabye the people who read the comics know? So does anybody knows?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 09:58, 14 March 2010 (EDT)

  • He fell in a vat of chemicals that turned his face white, his hair green, and his lips bright red. --Boom D  14  11:13, 14 March 2010 (EDT)
  • If you're referring to Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, it is intentionally left unexplained. The Joker's stories were told in order to frighten the people he was about to mutilate and/or kill. The movies are a departure from the comics themselves. Additionally, this is pretty much the only instance in which the Joker's white skin and discolored lips and hair is actually make-up, and not chemical disfigurement.
  • If you're referring to Jack Nicholson's Joker (formerly mob boss Jack Napier) in Batman (1989), it is from falling into a vat of chemicals at the Ace Chemical Plant, which did a whole number of nasty things to his face.
  • The comics themselves have a number of explanations (some even referencing the cartoons and movies). The Killing Joke shows him masquerading as Red Hood, then falling into a vat of chemicals, but Batman asks if that's true at all, to which the Joker says "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"
  • All in all, it is intentionally unknown. --Ricard Desi 13:13, 14 March 2010 (EDT)
    • Not true, Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight told a couple of mobsters that his father had cut his face when he was a child, after he witnessed his parents fighting. Its on the boat when they get like attacked with the snooker cues. --Leckie -- Talk 13:22, 14 March 2010 (EDT)
