Benjamin Washington, also known as "Knox", is a former criminal who was among the escapees from Level 5, but was eventually recruited into Pinehearst Company and changed his ways, hoping to improve the company. He is an evolved human with the ability to feed off people's fear and turn it into his own incredible strength.

Character History

Welcome to Pinehearst

In the Pinehearst building, Knox approaches Claire and asks what's wrong with her. He tells her she smells of fear and something is clearly wrong, to which she angrily reminds him of what happened in 2008. They go to a quiet part of the corridor to discuss something troubling Claire, and are joined by Daphne where they go on to talk about improving the company, as it will need to be ready for the problems of the formula being released to the public. Daphne upsets Claire as it is her father's plan. Claire storms off and smashes a glass pane in the door. Knox angrily orders Daphne to tidy the mess up.

The next day, Knox walks past the caretaker who is worried about something, which he says is because his job is in danger. Knox asks if he has seen Claire but he denies this.

He meets Daphne at the front entrance to the building while he stands alone, and Daphne tells him her file on Sylar is missing, and comments on Claire's strange behaviour and subsequent disappearance. They decide to examine security footage but do not have clearance to the surveillance room. The Haitian tells them he has access and they go to observe it.

On the way there Knox barges past the caretaker, injuring him but he hides his wound. The surveillance room is empty.

Knox has the ability to feed off of a person's fear to enhance his strength. Knox apparently is able to sense the fear around him either by touch, smell, or possibly even through a form of intuitive perception.
