Lawrence is of Scottish and Cree descent. He is a prolific screen and voice actor, first appearing in Pink Floyd's debut video, Learning to Fly. For his portrayal of Russel Means in Lakota Woman: Siege at Wounded Knee, he received a "Best Supporting Actor" award from First Americans in the Arts.
