Sam Loeb was a budding comic book writer who died of cancer in 2005 at the age of 17. Hiro and Ando travel to Sam's Comics to buy the new issue of 9th Wonders! in order to know where to go next. Sam calls Frack over and is surprised as he and Frack look at the new issue and see themselves on the cover looking at the new issue with Hiro and Ando in the background.
