Name

There are discrepancy in the Name of Hana GitTelman there's an extra T in the Part two of the Wireless Graphic Novel. We won't Find out for sure till the Show starts. ~ Red Jan 4, 2007 4:49PM (EST)

  • Considering they also misspelled 'Mossad' in that blurb, my money's on "Gitelman", but we'll know soon enough.--Hardvice (talk) 16:31, 3 January 2007 (EST)
    • Gotta love NBC - they're flawless! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:22, 3 January 2007 (EST)
      • I suspect this is Aspen. Back in my comic selling days, I used to just cringe at some of the typos they'd come out with.--Hardvice (talk) 17:45, 3 January 2007 (EST)

Power

She does a one-armed pull up in the comic. Is it too big of a stretch to claim she has super strength? I guess she could be levitating slightly.

  • I'd say definitely a stretch. :) Many very fit people can do one-armed pull-ups. We just need to wait a little bit before worrying about her power, I'm sure it'll become clear either in subsequent graphic novels (since we see her in part 1 of 4) or when she's introduced on the show itself. (Admin 14:59, 29 December 2006 (EST))
  • By the look of the comic she has been doing a lot of training over a long period of time. If she were super strong then I think she'd be beyond that - she just seems super dedicated to me. --Joshtek 15:12, 29 December 2006 (EST)

Name that Power

  • Well, now we know what she can do. What the heck do you call it? She can perceive electronic communications, but she can also send them, so something like "Communication (or transmission) perception" doesn't tell the whole story. "Electronic communication" covers both sending and receiving but isn't very clear. Any ideas?--Hardvice (talk) 04:41, 2 January 2007 (EST)
  • "Technovoyance"? Nope. This one is hard to name. "Electronic Data Perception" perhaps? --Ted C 12:08, 2 January 2007 (EST)
    • I kind of like "Technovoyance", though it's not really technological clairvoyance. EDP works, but also makes no mention of the "send" side of the equation.--Hardvice (talk) 12:24, 2 January 2007 (EST)
      • With "technovoyance", I was shooting for "view into the technological", but I didn't really feel that I hit it very well. EDP is the same idea in plainer language. --Ted C 12:26, 2 January 2007 (EST)
        • Something like "Human transceiver" gets across the send/receive distinction, but isn't very specific about what is received & transmitted. Maybe "Data transception"? That has the added advantage of pissing off the language purists since "transception" is comm industry jargon and is (*gasp*) not in the OED.--Hardvice (talk) 12:38, 2 January 2007 (EST)
          • Haha. I was thinking "transception" as well. Part of the problem to me is that I don't feel they've made it clear whether she only picks up wireless signals or whether she can sense wired signals as well. I'd suspect both, but the name of the novel is "Wireless" so I'm not sure. For now I personally like "Electronic data transception". (Admin 12:46, 2 January 2007 (EST))
            • Yeah, I was wondering that as well. But then I got to wondering how many signals are really purely wired. Almost everything except an all-wire LAN probably goes over a satellite somewhere. The one I'm wondering about is voice communications. It makes sense that if she can "perceive" emails, she should be able to hear voice signals, right? In either case, she still has to decode it. In any case, I agree: "Electronic data transception" covers all the bases we know without making too many claims about things we don't know.--Hardvice (talk) 12:50, 2 January 2007 (EST)
              • New page created. --Ted C 13:52, 2 January 2007 (EST)
            • If she's somehow picking up wireless transmissions then wouldn't it be more digital than electronic? Another question is how she knew it was Thompson. Unless he signed his message, it would only give his phone number and the name would be added by the phone on the receiving end, right? --Joshtek 16:50, 2 January 2007 (EST)
              • I believe "electronic" is more vague which is what we need to be right now since we don't know the exact nature of her powers. Digital would imply she can't receive analog transmissions for instance. As for knowing it was Thompson, it could be that their phones send name information as well... or if not maybe her powers let her know the contact info on the phone. Or maybe she intercepted the electronic transmission of the text from the phone to its display. Much too little info right now to know for certain. :) (Admin 17:02, 2 January 2007 (EST))
                • I'm not the biggest fan of "Electronic data transception", but that's okay. I have a feeling we'll have a lot more info with next week's issue. Might need to make a change then. We'll see! :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:02, 2 January 2007 (EST)
                  • Ok, let's consider some other terms. There is "Electrocommunication" which is used by fish and some other animals to transmit and receive electrical signals. Other terms for this are Electroception and Electroreception. I like the idea of using a single word for Hana's power... and we can't assume her ability is limited to data. --Astro 08:16, 5 January 2007 (EST)
                    • Actually, I really like "Electrocommunication". Let's wait until next week and see if there's any elaboration on her power. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:07, 5 January 2007 (EST)
                    • I don't know about anyone else, but "electrocommunication" makes me think "electrocution", and I don't like the possible mis-reading/misunderstanding that might result. I like "transception" -- it seems to accurately describe what she does. All that's really in doubt is whether she's limited to wireless signals. --Ted C 12:17, 5 January 2007 (EST)
                      • Agreed. I also think we should limit it to data for now, since that's all that is confirmed. Anything else is speculation at this point.--Hardvice (talk) 13:28, 5 January 2007 (EST)
                        • I think Electromagnetic it's better than electronic. Radio signals are electromagnetic fields after all. --Unaiaia 14:13, 5 January 2007 (EST)
                          • There are some really cool ideas here, and great discussion. Let's hold off on speculating whether or not Hana uses electromagnetism, or whether it's just data, etc. until we find out some more info. Afterall, we still have two more Hana-centric graphic novels, right? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:56, 5 January 2007 (EST)

Actress Portrayal

Does anybody think that Jessalyn Gilsig looks like Hana? (heh heh) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:24, 4 January 2007 (EST)

  • I doubt she'll be playing Hana, based on the other spoilers.--Hardvice (talk) 21:18, 4 January 2007 (EST)
    • I've seen previews on NBC with Mischa Barton as Hana. She has the two marks that Ted and Matt have. They are more on the front of her shoulder than the back like the other two. --Super Hiro 19:04, 19 January 2007 (EST)
      • Not sure it's Mischa Barton yet. Need to wait for some kind of confirmation. People are saying it looks like her, but I don't think anyone's confirmed it yet. (Admin 19:16, 19 January 2007 (EST))
        • While I agree it looks a lot like Barton, the prevailing rumor now is that the actress's name is Stana Katic. She had a role on "24," and after looking at her photos on both her site and on IMDb, I'm almost certain it's her. Also, Wikipedia is confirming her as the actress playing Hana, although they didn't offer a source. I'm going to add her as the portrayer. --ZyberGoat 13:15, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Changed photo

I changed the character photo to a screencap from the preview that ran during "Deal or No Deal." Since I think the scene was a clip from an upcoming episode (though we can't really be certain), the actress should be the same. Does anyone have a problem with this? If so, feel free to change the photo back to the comic frame capture. --ZyberGoat 12:34, 23 January 2007 (EST)

I think it's a good change, thanks! Real character pictures should take precedence over comic pictures particularly in the inbobox. (Admin 12:38, 23 January 2007 (EST))

Portrayal, Part 2

Somebody put that Stana Katic portrays Hana. Has this been confirmed - I thought it was still speculation. The only "definitive" info I could find was this, and it's not very definitive. I would remove the portrayer for now. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:57, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Even Wikipedia still says its Stana... and incorrect info like this usually gets cleared off of there pretty quickly. I'm in favor of leaving it because I have a feeling it's reliable, but I wish I could back it up with a very good source. Google shows a number of sites reporting Stana as Hana, but I don't see anything as definitive as an NBC press release or anything. :) (Admin 17:04, 23 January 2007 (EST))
It seems like the best evidence I've been able to find are just fans of 24 who recognize the actress. heh (Admin 17:05, 23 January 2007 (EST))
I should have read the history first, didn't realize someone had already tried. I'm sorry. --Riddler 02:31, 24 January 2007
NBC has confirmed that it is indeed Stana Katic. (Admin 13:09, 24 January 2007 (EST))
Cool, let's keep her on then. (For the record, I thought she was laughable on 24 - I hope she's much better as Hana.) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:23, 24 January 2007 (EST)
For the record, I think 24 is one of the worst shows on television, but then again I barely made it past the "big scary cougar cliffhanger/sudden unexplained memory loss" in season 1. When people told me season 2 was even worse, I gave up. I have it on DVD and haven't bothered to watch it.--Hardvice (talk) 14:33, 24 January 2007 (EST)

<sigh> When is she going to appear in a episode!!!!!????--The Empath 20:24, 3 February 2007 (EST)

  • Episode 16 (Unexpected). Three more weeks.--Hardvice (talk) 22:31, 3 February 2007 (EST)

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Hanantha? How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?

I'd like to move Hana over to one of the live-action portals now that she's appeared ... it creeps me out having one live action picture in with a bunch of comic shots. However, I don't think we have a really good feel for how big of a role she will be once she actually premieres on the show. Any ideas?--Hardvice (talk) 17:08, 23 January 2007 (EST)

I would actually leave her as a GN character only, since, well, she still is. I'd change the pic on the GN Character portal to the illustrated one. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:51, 23 January 2007 (EST)
This is my favorite heading for a discussion topic EVER! I'll be humming this all day, thanks! --AverageMan 10:17, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Marked Neck Image

  • Just keeping this handy for when she finally appears in the episode. Image:HanaGitelmanMarked.jpg --Orne 16:32, 26 January 2007 (EST)
  • The animated mark seems to be located in a different place than the human actor mark. Possible continuity error? Disney42 13:34, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Heroes 360

  • Are we going to pull some of the information off her dossier, Mossad file and other potential spoilerish implications? Bkdelong 08:36, 11 February 2007 (EST)
    • Probably not to include in her character page (we just don't know how well Heroes 360 will fit in with the canon material, given NBC.com's lousy track record for making mistakes), but it would be appropriate in the Notes section. Most of the photos, links, and information from her dossier is in the primatechpaper.com article if you want to add links here. Of course, anything too spoilerish should remain in the Heroes 360-specific article or in a Category:Spoilers article.--Hardvice (talk) 12:36, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Number of episodes

How many episodes is Hana supposed to be in? Heroe 20:26, 22 February 2007 (EST)

  • I'm not sure I've ever seen anything that says. I hope it's for quite awhile -- she's a pretty kick-a** character. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:55, 22 February 2007 (EST)
