Character History

Volume Two: Generations

After the explosion, Niki and Micah sat a Roosevelt Hospital waiting to hear the results of D.L.'s surgery. Dr. Brooks then comes out and tells them that the surgery was a success and D.L. will be fine. The next day Niki and Micah visited D.L. as he was recovering. She explained to Dr. Brooks that they don't have insurance for the surgery, but he assures her it’s been taken care of. She was then introduced to Bob Bishop who explained to her that he wanted to help her. He explained that sometimes when abilities manifest the mind can fracture causing a split personality. She told him that she was finished with Jessica, but he assured her that other personalities could emerge. He offered her a chance to get help but it would mean she would have had to leave her family. She refused to leave her family again after just getting them back together. Bob then offered her medication she could take at home but warned her that there are side effects. At Micah's birthday party one month later Niki was having a real hard time dealing with the effects of her medication. She claimed that she couldn't even smile on her own son's birthday. Her husband assured her that the medication just needed to level out and then things will get better.

Gina, Niki's second alter-ego manifests.

Niki then decided to dispose of the medication by dumping them down the drain. After one month without taking her medication, Niki got a job as a car salesman, a job that made D.L. very proud of her. After D.L. left to go bring Micah to school Niki heard a voice speaking behind her. She turned around to see a person who looked just like her. This person called herself Gina, a name that Niki once took on when she went to Los Angeles. Gina wanted to back to LA but Niki claimed to be in control, and that if she could handle Jessica she could handle her. Gina asked then why she wasn't taking her meds and took control of Niki and traveled to LA. One month later, Gina was in a club doing drugs and dancing with a man. D.L. then intervened and assumed Gina was Jessica, to which Gina told him to guess again. D.L. then explained that Gina was his wife and showed her a picture of himself, Niki, and Micah. Niki then regained control and she was not aware of where she was. She then began to leave the club with D.L. where they said how much they love each other. The man Gina was dancing with then approached them and shot D.L. in the chest right in from of Niki. One week later at D.L.'s funeral Niki explained to Nana Dawson that she needed to get some help. Nana explained that if Niki needed anything to just ask her. Bob Bishop then arrived at the funeral and Niki agreed to receive treatment. Niki then decided that it was time for her and Micah to leave Las Vegas for a fresh start at life. She promised Micah that anytime he wanted to visit his father she would make sure that it happened and that they had to say goodbye. Niki then brought Micah to New Orleans to stay with his relatives, The Dawson's. Micah didn't want Niki to go but she explained to him that she had to, but when she got back they would be together again. Niki then called Bob while waiting at his office at the Company facility. She made sure that he would be able to cure her and he said as long she repays the favor. Later, Niki, while under the influence of another personality escaped from her confinements. She tore down the doors and made her way into the Company hospital hallway. There, she tossed Mohinder Suresh into a door and lifted Bob Bishop up by his neck, strangling him. She was later tazered by Mohinder and fell to the floor. Later, confined to her bed, Niki was back to her normal self and apologized for her actions earlier. Bob told her that her disorder was a terrible affliction but promised her they would get her well. Mohinder then offered her a chance to escape believing she was a prisoner. Niki explained that she was sick and that these were the only people who could help her. Niki was later cured of her disorder and was assigned to be Mohinder Suresh's partner for the Company. She explained that she owed the Company for helping her and that she wants to make aware that there are no misunderstandings between him and Bob. She later commented that it wasn't her decision to be his partner. Bob then explained that Maury Parkman was near the facility so he was evacuating it. In his office Bob explained to Niki, Mohinder, Nathan, and Matt what roles they would play in stopping Maury.

Niki believed she could be persuasive but Bob wanted her to help Mohinder inject him with the Shanti Virus. Later, she was walking with Mohinder saying that she knows he doesn't trust Bob. Niki then explains to Mohinder how she killed a lot of people and how the Company could have given her the virus but they chose not to. She told him that they made her right so she could have a normal life with her son. Niki then turned around to see D.L. behind her saying that she is not cured and that she is a killer and how she would kill everyone. Niki didn't tell Mohinder and the two of them proceeded to get the virus. While getting the virus Maury continued to show Niki visions of D.L. She then started talking to herself and saying that she is still sick. D.L. claimed that they were using her and she could still do the right thing. Then, a vision of Bob shot D.L., and D.L. told Niki that killing Bob would be the only way to save Micah. Niki then punched Mohinder across the room, takes the vile of the Shanti Virus, and proceeds to Bob's office. When she arrived at Bob's office she started punching the door. She knocked the door down using her strength and entered the office. She explained to Nathan that she had to kill Bob because he killed D.L. Nathan tells her that it is a nightmare and to think of Micah. She then injected herself with the virus in order to stop herself. Mohinder was then trying to cure her with the antibodies in his blood. She then apologized for breaking his nose, and he says it wasn't her fault because she wasn't in control. He then discovered that the virus had mutated and his blood was no longer a cure. Niki then realized that she was going to die. She thanked Bob for helping her as she checked herself out of the Company to be with her son. Niki then returned to New Orleans and surprised Micah with her return. She explained how much she missed him and that she went to the Company because they help people like them when they are sick. She confirmed to him that Jessica and all her other personalities are gone, but that she had a virus. She told Micah that Dr. Suresh was working hard to find a cure and that he will find one so she can get better and they can live a normal life together. Micah said that D.L.’s medal would make her stronger but when he went to get it, the medal was gone. After Damon revealed that the medal was stolen after he tried to get money for it, Micah told Niki that they needed to be heroes and get it back. Niki claimed that being a hero got his father killed and that she was sorry but the medal was gone. Niki later received a call from Mohinder saying that he found a cure for the virus but when Niki went to Micah's bedroom to tell him, she discovered that he is gone. The next day Micah returned to the Dawson’s home, where Niki said that she was looking everywhere for him.

Niki gets trapped in a building that explodes, killing her.

Micah then tells Micah that they have to rescue Monica, and she could use her strength help. She told him that the virus has side-effects and she doesn’t have her strength anymore, but Dr. Suresh called her that he may have a cure. Micah hoped so and they then proceeded to help Monica. Micah used his ability to tell Niki’s cell phone to find Monica’s cell phone to show him where she was. They then arrive at a burning building where Monica is being held inside. She cut off the gang member responsible and got out of the car to confront him. She then kicked him and took his gun which she then used to knock him out by hitting him with it in the face. She told Micah to stay in the car while she went into the building to rescue Monica. In the building, Niki found Monica and helped her escape. On their way out a wooden beam falls in front of them blocking their exit. Niki told Monica that when she lifted the beam to pull the door open. Niki successfully lifted the beam and she told Monica to get out of the building. After Monica left Niki dropped the wooden beam and tried as hard as she could but could not lift it again. She remained trapped in the building and was killed when it exploded.

Evolved Human Abilities

Niki lifts Bob using her strength.

Niki possessed enhanced strength. She was strong enough to knock down doors and other obstacles with a single hit, throw people several feet across a room, and literally rip people in half. For months, she could only utilize her power through her alternate personality, Jessica, who is much more violent than her normal self. Jessica used the ability in a variety of crimes ranging from robberies to brutal murders. Eventually, Niki finally learned how to use her enhanced strength at will. While infected with the Shanti Virus, Niki could no longer access her ability.
